When to list items

I'm still trying get a handle on how Etsy works in terms of searches and activity. I was wondering if it makes a difference on when to list an item?

Right now I have 5 draft listings that are ready to go. I've double checked the keywords, created a good title, and concise item description. Should I go ahead and list them all at once? Or should I stagger them throughout the week to make it look like "constant activity"? Does constant activity even matter?

Thank you!

Re: When to list items

Hi Cindy,
I tend to list whenever I can get a listing ready. I've noticed that there is someone always shopping no matter what time of day or night, so it doesn't seem to matter what time you list.
But I wouldn't list all 5 drafts at the same time. I would definitely stagger them. I have noticed that my views, sales, etc. increase when I'm "working" in my shop. In other words, spread out the time between your listings and do some tweeking to expiring listings, rearrange your shop, etc. a little bit each day so it looks like you are actively working.
Hope this helps.

Re: When to list items

Thank you Maria & Jewel! Very helpful advice!

After reading the thread I'm going to change the time to post new listings. The past few weeks I've been listing as I drink my morning coffee and before the baby wakes up, usually about 6:30am EST. I'm going to change my listing time to later in the day.

I set up a calendar reminder to update my Etsy shop each day, this will be either listing a new item or adjusting an item already listed. I've also added Facebook and Instagram to my calendar reminder.

Re: When to list items

I think it is a good idea to list later in the day (also in EST). I know that there are always shoppers see since it is a global market. But you find that this year all of my customers have been in the US. And I see with that shoppers in Australia and the UK are shown items from those places when they search.

When I first started my shop, I actually had sales to Australia and New Zealand. But this past year I've not had any from there. So I think I should gear my listing times towards The US market.

And looking at my stats, my sales have been either on the weekends, or in the evening. I think it's really helpful to look at our stuff for listing.

Just what I've noticed. I really don't know how much of a difference it makes, as I am newish and I don't have a ton of sales.

Re: When to list items

Any time is a good time for listing.
This is a worldwide 24/7 selling platform.
New listings used to get you extra exposure, but with the amount of shops and listings Etsy is filled with nowadays that momentum is gone.

Re: When to list items

I list items when I have them ready to go. I will generally list a bunch of items at once and then not list anything new for weeks. I've not noticed any difference at all over the years as to when they are listed. After all, its always 5:00pm somewhere!
