When's the right time?

I was just curious as to when everyone feels is the right time to start listing halloween items and specific christmas theme items. I don't want to list too early where buyers start getting annoyed, but I don't want to miss the prime time. I am specifically asking because I have childrens and adults halloween items that i would like to list, but i don't want to list them too early. I would love to hear everyones feedback on this.

I started listing Halloween & Christmas themed items last month. A lot of people start holiday shopping early and you want to be the one they find when they are searching for that perfect gift. So list away.

Also others will say to leave your holiday themed items up all year long for those few extra early shoppers. Its completely up to you. I typically let them expire after the holidays.

I would think now would be a good time to start the Halloween themed stuff for sure. People shopping online know they will have to get their orders in soon to get their items on time. I've noticed more Halloween stuff popping up on my front page. (That could just be the site catering to my tastes however as well.)

I'd also think a couple of Christmas things just to nudge into the market would be okay as well. I've already listed one of my Christmas bracelets, but I'll wait until after Halloween to really promote it and anything else Christmas I come up with in the meantime. (I make my items on whims and moods much of the time. Must have been wishing for snow when I made the Christmas one!) ;-)

I just listed a Halloween head wrap. i would think once the back to school rush is just about over would be a good time for Halloween items.

Also In July, Etsy typically promotes "Christmas In July" so that's another incentive to have Christmas themed items posted as soon as you can. Not to mention this is about the time Blogs & Magazines are looking for items to highlight in their gift guides.

Well I am definately looking for Halloween and Christmas decor. I just made a Pinterest page for each of these holidays. I find that it really is an easy way to organize my favorites since I can't do it on Etsy. The added bonus is that it gets people to my Pinterest page where I also have a section for my items.

I'm working on it now, I would've ideally liked to have had them up already, but it's been a crazy summer for everyone.

I've already listed some fall items AND Christmas items. You have to factor in the time it will take for someone to get the item (1-2 weeks for shipping, especially if it is a custom item), so it is better to give everyone plenty of time to find your things.
You can also use the "Rearrange your Shop" option to put Christmas items towards the end of your page, and fall things closer to the top, that way your customers won't be bombarded by a bunch of fall and Christmas stuff right at the top.
