What would you do?

I'm working out a deal of possibly selling 100 of my teapots! Horray!

Right now, I've only made 12 sales and have 7 feedback...only 2 of those are feedback as a seller.

I would so love for my shop to say 112 sales with 107 feedback! Wouldn't that be amazing! I worry that something could go wrong and potentially have 100 negative feedback, though! Obviously, devastating!!

Would you give her one reserved listing with all 100 on it or have her buy 100 individual pots so that it would reflect 100 sales?

I would love to hear your thoughts!

Re: What would you do?

Well, by having 1 listing you could offer her an accurate shipping price and I think you save on fees. I understand the desire for 100 sales. I sell A LOT of sets, but at the end of the day I'd rather have accurate shipping, and 1 transaction fee over the appearance of multiple sales.

Re: What would you do?

Hmmm...as AWESOME as it would be to up the sales by 100, I don't think it's fair to the buyer to make her click "add to cart" 100 times :P

Someone else might know better than me, but if you make the listing and then offer 100 in etsy's new quantity feature, those 100 sales should show up after the order in your sales total.

Re: What would you do?

you'll have to pay .20 for every duplicate and a transaction fee and multi-quantity don't show up as single sales in the count. i sold a bunch of mars earrings for a wedding and had to pay a bunch of fees and my count didn't increase.

Re: What would you do?

I think listing the number of items qualifies as individual sales in one listing. When she goes to purchase, she puts the number of teapots she wants in the quantity section. That should reflect 100 sales in your shop without making 100 postings. I think that will work.

Re: What would you do?

I totally understand how you feel! That being said.... I would do a reserved listing to provide the accurate shipping costs, describing how you would pack and ship the items and for the convenience of the customer. This kind of sale can only bring good karma if you focus on helping the customer rather than how it will make your store look.

Congratulations!

Re: What would you do?

1 reserved listing, it's just WAY easier for the customer.

Re: What would you do?

If she orders a quantity of 100, it will only show as one sale. Silly but that's the way it is.

So the only way would be to create 100 listings, which would cost you $20.... S I would just make one reserved listing. I wouldn't want to put 100 items in my cart if I were her!!

Re: What would you do?

I would do 1 reserved listing.
It will save you on the fees and it will be easier on the buyer.

Re: What would you do?

Yeah - one reserved listing is just a lot easier for you both.

It would be nice to have a boost of 100 sales, but that really doesn't sound practical.

Re: What would you do?

I would be tempted to try the quantity feature, but as a buyer I usually look at a sellers past sales before purchasing to see what they have sold. If you use the special picture that says reserved listing, I would also put a picture of the item you are selling to her with it or put reserved listing in all caps in the description, that would make me go look at it and think "wow! she sold 100 items to one person!". I agree with Merry W - put the info for how you will package it and whatnot in the description. I think that is a better reflection on your shop and help save you some fees. At least that is what I would do.

Re: What would you do?

the only thing you can do to create a few more sales without listing 100 different items is making one listing for every colour set (don´t know how many colours there´ll be) so in the end you might have like 5 listings, one for all the green ones, one for the red ones, ...
i wouldn´t go for the 100 listings either....

Re: What would you do?

I would say just do one transaction, even though getting 100+ all at once would be awesome.

Re: What would you do?

I understand why you're asking, but I agree - adding 100 to your sales is less important than annoying a great buyer by making them go through 100 transactions!

PS well done on your order :)

Re: What would you do?

After discussing this with your customer to make sure it's okay, I think I'd set it up based on shipment, so you can track each package easily. So, if you are putting two teapots in one box, you'd end up with 50 orders & 50 tracking numbers. Would this makes sense?

Re: What would you do?

^^^^^But ONLY if the customer is okay with placing that many orders. I'd explain to her that it would make it easier for you and for her to track the packages this way . . .

Re: What would you do?

I agree, I would make it as easy as possible for the buyer~! I wouldn't want to "buy" 100 times, too time consuming.

Kudos to you. That is awesome! And the pots are so cute.

Re: What would you do?

Just do one listing, having the customer check out 100 times isn't good customer service. I think sellers tend to get too caught up in the wrong numbers (number of sales, views, likes, etc.). The only number that actually matters if you're running a serious business is net profit. That's a little simplified but at the end of the day that's what's going to make or break your business. You could have a thousand sales but if you lose money on them they are worthless.

Yes. I'm re-thinking this. Do one listing. Much better customer service :)

Re: What would you do?

One listing is $0.20, 100 listings is $20! I don't think it's worth the money just to have it show 100+ sales and I doubt they'll leave feedback for every item. They may not leave feedback at all.

Re: What would you do?

I would do the reserved listing. When i create the custom listing, I would actually put 'custom listing for 100 teapots'. That way, when somebody goes through the sold items in your shop, they see the quantity that was in the listing from the title (assuming it was the first thing u put in). I do that with all of my custom listing for specific card quantities. It may not show in the 'sales' number, but buyers browsing your sold items will see the large order you had.

Re: What would you do?

If she set it up as quantity of 100 and had the buyer order 100, it would still only show up as 1 sale as far as Etsy goes. I've sold multiple quantities of the same item and Etsy records it as a single sale. It's a bummer but that's how it is.

Someone else mentioned that the buyer would have to check out 100 times, but that's not true. If a buyer puts several items from the same seller in their cart, they only go through check out once.

That all being said, I'd create one reserved listing for all 100 teapots. You want to make the buying process as smooth as possible for your customer.

Congratulations on the possible sale!
