What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

I'm currently in the process of becoming more proactive in my Facebook page. So far I've essentially been posting pictures of my darling and just sneak peaks of upcoming products. I've actually managed to get a few more likes this way but I want to really grow my fan base.

I've realized that social media is truly a big player now a days and as much as I'm not into this sort of virtual world, I want to understand it more.

I'm just wondering what type of content do each of you post on your Facebook page to attract fans and/or if you have any tips as for what I should post on mine. :)

Thank you in advance for sharing! :D

I think a lot of us struggle with this. I make jewellery, so I try to find interesting articles to share on jewellery, gemstones, fashion, and so on. I link to any new blog posts, make comments on what I'm working on or doing, and show teaser images of things I'll be putting on Etsy soon.

Same issue here. We also want to grow our fanbase, but not be boring and only post pictures of our items.
Just a thought... as you're running a pet fashion shop, you could also post quirky/funny memes or interesting trivia about pets in general, particularly about cats. ;)

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

-new items
-news about new items coming
-funny outtake pictures from photo shoots
-funny things/pics my daughter does since a lot of my shoppers are parents
-quotes
-sharing of other things I like, usually from friend's shops but never anything that is competition with me

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

I try to anticipate what my followers are interested in:
-photos and thoughts about my items in progress
-concepts of ideas with a fabric and trims 'story board'
-finished items
-items newly listed in my Etsy Shop
-preparations for my market stalls
-share pages e.g. links from other Etsy shops or things I think might interest my followers
-occasionally my original recipes and garden photos

Happy for you take a look. (I set up my FB page only a few months ago so I am still learning but I love how it has reached interested people around the world and I appreciate their feedback).

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

I try to share a variety of things to keep people interested. I sometimes post photos of projects in the "making stage", or I share funny pics and quotes, I like to share other Etsy shops as well as DIY projects from Pinterest or even a fun recipe now and then. Variety is definately a must I think.
I don't worry about how many likes I have either, I don't do the whole "Like me and I will like you back". I really would rather have people who actually want to follow my page and interact.

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

I definitely struggle with this and I'm looking for ways to grow my fan base as well. The majority of things that I post are newly listed items. I've also started to post Etsy Treasuries that I like or have curated myself, links to Etsy shops that I have done business with (as recommendations). I'm planning on creating a blog in the upcoming months and I will link that to my Facebook Business page to share content.

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

I post new items, custom items I am shipping to people to show my customers creativity, articles related to things in my shop (burlap, weddings, etc...).

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

I like occassionally posting really nice reviews that customers leave as feedback.

I also love posting new and cool items or etsy shops I stumble across!

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

I just started my fan page too, so I'm still trying to figure this out! I like to post my new products, customer appreciation photos I receive, and occasionally questions to get ideas for new products.

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

I am working on my fan page also. I post items when they sell, treasuries I am featured in, articles about my craft in general (eg knitting techniques), I also feature other Etsy artists when I find someone whose items I really like. I believe the posts need to be varied, interesting to other people, with some self promotion scattered in. https://www.facebook.com/babywearbybabs

I paint a lot so I post a lot of work in progress paintings- sometimes from scratch like rough sketches to the coloring process.

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

Thank you for replying! I checked and no one had posted. I'm glad I gave it another try to check if someone had replied!

There's definitely some ideas I could definitely try out. I think the idea of memes or funny pictures are definitely a great idea specially since they've become so popular lately. The idea of the "out takes" is actually really nice too since I do have a lot of silly pictures of my darling as we're doing our photo shoots. & Like many of you mentioned, images of "works in progress" or even how an idea starts as a sketch turns into a tangible item would be quite interesting. :)

Thank you so much! I can't wait to start trying out these ideas. :D

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

Gatinela, you are one of the rare businesses who can post about cats and have it actually be relevant!

So many online marketing books I read say, "Don't post cats to your FB page unless you are in a business relevant to cats".

Do you guys like to do giveaways on your fb page? And how do you go about doing them?

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

I have thought about giveaways, but so far can't decide on the rules and the size of the prize (small prize - not enough incentive, big prize - too expensive for me).

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

This is what I post about:

1. Events (whether its event's I'll be at, or when I acutally get there, I'll post pictures of my booths)
2. Works in progress
3. New Items
4. Pictures from my modeling sessions
5. Articles relating to what I do

I try to make it as personal yet professional as possible without trying to be a spammer. I also recently learned how to tie my page to my twitter account, so if I am out at a show, I'll post pictures while I'm at my shows,

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

I do quotes, items in my shop, fashion articles and tips, and wedding tips. I also post cute pictures of animals occasionally. I do most of my posting via Instagram because it allows me to post on FB, Twitter, and Tumblr all at the same time.

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

I admit, I'm not as active on my Facebook page as I need to be, but I post new items, I let my customers know what new products I'm working on, and post interesting articles that are related to my products, such as essential oils, or natural skincare products or recipes.

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

my usual subjects in order of frequency
history posts about artists
silly holidays (this was suggested by a friend - what I do is find a weird holiday of the day and include a link to one of my pieces if I have a relevant one, or a product by an etsy shop, or something else relevant) -
blog posts and articles about art
art and fine craft techniques
science articles that are relevant to art and creativity
occasional business oriented articles that are relevant to artists
art shows, calls for art
my stuff
as you can see I don't necessarily post my stuff, though I've started doing an item of the day just in the past week

I just wanted to thank Gatinela for posting this question. It is something I have struggled with and I have not been getting any new fans for awhile now. I am excited to be starting to use some of these ideas everyone has put up.

Re: What type of content do you post to your Facebook page?

Loads of stuff! I had a slow start but now I post:

giveaways for each 100 milestone - always generates followers
the weather and how I am feeling today
new fabric I've bought and work in progress
reviews from customers, especially quirky ones
links to my Etsy site
requests for advice and information - this not only helps me work out the latest Facebook changes, it generates comments and keeps me noticed.

Follow lots of other people, join the networking pages you come across, we have Craft a Thon, Hike Those Likes, Bob's Place etc, who share for a share, feature your new items etc. You have to play ball and like other's stuff, but I choose makers who are mostly in different fields to me, that way I think I might generate more sales. Once you have those likers, respond to them, like their pics and share the ones you really truly like. I try to be honest in everything, as I feel it gives me more credibility.
Oh, and the more Facebook friends you have, the more requests you will get for charity items - I've had to post something on my page about this in the last few days, as lots of people seem to think I can donate items I have spent time and money on. They don't know I am getting three or four requests a day! I give a few things to my favourite charities, but that's all I can afford right now.
