What time of the day do you list?

I used to get sales at around 10-11 in the morning but now I see this trend changing. I feel like I am wasting my money listing at this time. Do any of you feel the same way?

Re: What time of the day do you list?

I try to renew at lots of different times, in order to hit a wider audience. My thinking is that some one browsing etsy at 8am is likely to be browsing most days at 8am. So I do different times, kind of randomly, in order to be seen by different groups of shoppers. Does that make sense?

Re: What time of the day do you list?

I noticed in my analytics that most of my views were in around lunch time, so I have been renewing between 12-3.

Re: What time of the day do you list?

I like to renew my items at midnight and this time seems to be effective for getting views. I am not sure why! but it works.

Re: What time of the day do you list?

My views peak around lunch time too. Actually, I get a lot of looky-lous on the weekends & then they come back to buy during the week on their lunch breaks I guess.

Re: What time of the day do you list?

Google analytics tells me I've got a lot of views at 2am. I'm not sure this makes sense to me but then google knows everything...I'm also experimenting with different times of the day but I'm going to try that midnight thing for sure.

Re: What time of the day do you list?

Lolasjewels: Until your post, I didn't know you could see what time you got your views with Google Analytics. This has been really useful. I don't get the biggest number of views in the world, but after midday I seem to get a fairly steady number of views, with most at 4pm and 8pm, which tend to be when I make Facebook updates. I normally list items at lunchtime when I expect people to be at their computers, but I'll switch to my peaking viewing times in future!

Re: What time of the day do you list?

I list mine whenever I happen to think of it/be available to do it.

Re: What time of the day do you list?

I think it depends on what you sell. I identify peak days and times of sales this way. Get some graph paper. Put the 24 hrs running down vertically on the left. At top put the 7 days of the week. Then enter a capital letter (representing the primay category) intersecting the associated day and time for each sale.

I use Google Analytics too and cross reference with Craftopolis. I get most of my views at 7pm, then 8pm, then 9pm. I sell baby items and I figure that's when moms are on the computer, after they put the kids to bed!

Re: What time of the day do you list?

AmykinsJewellery, lolajewels,

I was going to ask if anyone knows whether those times in the Pageviews section are Pacific, Central or Eastern. I don't see one or the other? Maybe Google sets it for me based on my account location...

Re: What time of the day do you list?

I list usually in the morning around 10 am because that's when I get photos done and am ready. Sometimes I will relist or list around noon.

@ BackyardBrand
I believe that google analytics is using time based on your location. I think when I set mine up it asked me to confirm that I wanted Eastern Time, for example.

Re: What time of the day do you list?

I base it off Google Analytics as well and I usually get most views between 12-3pm. That's when I usually renew or list a new item then promote it on Twitter and Facebook. I get another view increase in the evening so I think people are looking at Facebook at work, click on my link for a minute, then come back to it after work? Either way, it works to play around with it and figure out what works best for your shop.

We list at random times to try to reach buyers in different time zones.

Re: What time of the day do you list?

haha, I love GA too. After reading this thread I was like - what? i never knew you could check the times! It's a good help, for sure. I had most visits between 8-11am, and then a couple at 11pm. Quite interesting. All afternoon times there were almost no views. I have had it installed for about 5 days now, so I am waiting to see how much this will become a pattern, and if I will be able to know what days I should list at what times.

Re: What time of the day do you list?

I never put that much thought into it. I list at night, because that's when I put my son to bed, so that's when I can get on the computer!
