My shop has been open since 2009, 5 years and I can't believe how horrible views and sales are lately. I have had just 2 sales for October. I just don't understand what the heck is going on. At this rate I am very nervous about the holiday season, Either we are going to get too many sales or nothing at all.
Any thoughts on this from long time shop owners, Do you see a downward turn for your shop ? -K
Ours, no, though we've only been here a few years. Have you looked to see where the declines are happening for you? (search views, social media views, conversion rates, advertising, etc.)
I have seen lower views and sales this month too. I think it has to do with the new front page/ lack of treasury page that draws in Etsy customers. That's my take on it.
Did you used to get a lot of views from the FP? If you were on some specialist treasury teams, really successful ones, I can see how that would reduce your views/sales for sure. Etsy has been talking about doing away with the Treasury FP and going a personalized route for more than a year, though.
I have been on the FP a few times over the years but I don't think that is what's going on. Perhaphs there are just so many more shops and items than when I started and my promotion methods are just not doing the trick.
I am sad to see the FP treasury go away. I did like that alot better. -K
October was my busiest month last year and this year I've only sold a few items. My views/sales are down drastically to the point where I'll have to look for other places to sell next year.
October was really down for me too! I have more and a different variety of items then I've ever had. I can't help but parallel the drop to some of the changes etsy is making...
I checked my stats both here and on another selling venue and October has historically been my worst month for sales. Maybe it's just the calm before the Christmas storm?
This has been an interesting thread. My sister and I are really new to Etsy and we've noticed our views are down in October when we thought we'd been gaining a little traction.
I've been adjusting our tags and trying to find what tags are trending to have our items show up more easily, but it has been a bit disappointing for us this month.
I've had 8 sales this month, down from 20-25 per month over the summer. My views are going up though, so I'm hoping people are looking for Christmas gifts, but aren't ready to buy yet. Hopefully they are saving my items in their carts and will buy during the next couple of months. :)
I am in the same boat 2 sales even tho i am new i was hoping to do a bit better..I am worried about my prices and trying to figure out how to do better.
Lots of threads about this. Seems October has been very slow for many shops and alot of them are well established shops who are having a tough time. My sales were good then bam last week it all stopped now no views, no faves nothing.
If you saw a news feature on the internet about stock market crashes happening in October & how this article was trying to keep people from dumping marketable securities to avoid another crash, then it is possible that people were trying to prepare for a potential crash that happens on average of every 7 years (the 7 year itch) and started holding onto money instead of spending it. Just a guess.
October was the first month this year that I have not hit my sales targets - usually very busy for me, I have been on Etsy for 3.5 years. Last year my Halloween designs sold extremely well, this year they were almost nothing! The first 3 days of November have been worse still. Fingers crossed it picks up soon. May just be the timing of pay cycles, end-of-month expenses etc. Hope it picks up soon.
I am relieved to see these posts...I have had very steady sales for the last 6 months or so, but this month have gone the last 2 weeks without selling anything. I can't remember that happening since I opened my shop! I was getting worried! I came her tonight searching out some answers.
I have had decent views. The item favorites and shop followers have increased. I hope that means positive vibes for November and December.
I appreciate everyone's willingness to share their experiences.
