What now?

A buyer recently didn't include the ring size she wanted in Notes to Seller...I should have known this would happen. It has been about 24 hours since I contacted her (through both convos and through email) and I haven't received a response yet. I don't know how long to wait. Obviously I can't ship yet. Anyone who has been in a similar situation, please offer some help!

Thanks in advance,
Zoe :)

Re: What now?

Give it another day or two, and then try again. Tell her if she doesn't get in contact with you within 48 hours after that, you'll be forced to cancel the sale.

I had that happen in this shop - I had a customer order a sampler pack, and she never did get back to me. In this case, though, I just shipped her some stuff, and prayed really hard that she'd be okay with it. I guess she was - I never heard anything back that was negative. LOL

Re: What now?

Sometimes people get busy and don't check their e-mail every day. I would give them some time.

Re: What now?

I really want to try everything before I cancel...she bought multiple items, a sale I really don't want to lose. Thanks for the advice given, I will wait another day or so.

Re: What now?

Hi Zoe-

I think considering she already paid, I would give her a few days especially since she bought multiple items.

Definitely contact her a couple more times. That's my opinion- I think sending her a message telling her you'll be forced to cancel the sale may be a little hard considering she did purchase more than 1 item? Maybe I'm wrong. If she hadn't yet paid for the items then that's a bit different I think.
My guess is something urgent has come up- and if you wait & work with her, by just waiting (obviously not waiting 2 weeks tho, im talking within reason! ) she will probably most appreciate the patience.

Re: What now?

Good question. I have wondered what people do in this situation. We sell sandwich and snack bag sets, where they're supposed to pick sizes and colors at checkout, and I often have to email people to find out what they want because they don't do it. But in that case, if I don't hear from them, I let them know that if I still haven't heard by a certain date, I'll send an assortment. I had to do that just last week.

But we just opened another shop selling kids clothing, and I have wondered the same thing there. Because it's no biggie if they get a sandwich bag instead of a snack bag, but what about sizes of clthes or jewelry like this???

Re: What now?

I appreciate all the advice. I've contacted her, hopefully I will hear back. I still don't know how long to wait really, but I really want to avoid cancelling this order. The woman bought several items and canceling would really stink! So I will wait a little longer...I just hope I don't get accused of shipping too slowly or something..

Re: What now?

Buyers don't necessarily check Etsy or even email as much as sellers. I would give it at least a couple more days, they may be busy etc.

Re: What now?

I experienced the same situation with a bracelet. It was a toggle clasp so I need exact, wrist measurement. I told her "message me anytime." Anytime meant 3 days later :-). Folks don't check their Etsy accounts as often as... we the sellers do.

I'd say... wait. I am still waiting for a response from a buyer about the accurate address. Need to reship the package because it came back to me. That convo was 2 weeks ago. *sigh* I thought everyone is excited about getting my handmade, pretty (if I may say so) jewelry :-)

Re: What now?

I wasn't trying to be harsh, but sometimes, you have to jar them a little to get them to pay attention. In my case, I waited nearly two weeks before I sent the shipment out - to Korea, no less - after many, many convos and emails. I was about to either cancel the sale or just send her whatever. So I sent her whatever - if she didn't like it, it wasn't because I didn't try! LOL

Re: What now?

It might be upwards of a week before you see anything. Just give it some time. If they don't get back to you within a month then just cancel the sale but a buyer may only check back once in a while.
I don't sell anything that has specific sizes but I've always wondered how many times this happens because a buyer might not read the entire item info. I think if I was selling things I would list all the sizes separately so there wouldn't be any confusion.

Re: What now?

Usually you can find the customers personal email on their paypal transaction invoice so you can reach them directly. Once in a great while if I can't reach a customer by Etsy convo, than I can reach them through their email. Its another alternative to reaching out and it does work. Just have to wait for response. At the worse case senerio after a long long waiting game and many emails later, you will have to cancel the sale and refund their money. But the customer will start looking for their item when a long time has passed. Good luck!

Re: What now?

Is it made to order? Or does the ring listed have a size? If it is made to order, wait. If not, send the size that you have now. That's what I do :)

Re: What now?

Check to see if she is a new "ETSY" account...if she is, she may not understand the whole convo thing...

If she is like me, she may be on the go a lot. Did you try her personal email , it should appear on your transaction receipt. I would not cancel the sale, I would give her at least 5 days. Unless this is a OOAK item ; it is worth hanging on for the customer's sake. At 5 days I would explain you need to re-list it if she doesn't respond within 24 hours of this notice.

Re: What now?

Nope not new to Etsy...ring made to order, clearly specified in description...you can look in my sold orders and see that. I think I'll just keep waiting. I really just don't want to be accused of non-shipping or something, but as a new seller I'm also afraid of feedback (if I got a negative right now, I'd have 66% positive.). I really want to make my buyer happy, but I need to get in contact with her first.

Re: What now?

When you contacted her, did you contact her through Etsy convos or through her email? If you didn't send a message to her email, I would try that. She might not check her Etsy convos on a regular basis!
Otherwise, just give it a couple of days and keep trying to reach her. It will all be good :)

Re: What now?

Contact through convo, email and paypal email. . . If that doesn't work, send a 7.5. They say almost every woman should be able to wear a 7.5 on at least one finger. . .

Re: What now?

Well Alessandra, thanks for your help (LOL). I love getting spammed in my own threads!

OK, so I have contacted her through convos and emails, it's been two days and nothing. I don't know what to do next.

Re: What now?

Why don't you send her the other items and write a nice little note that you need the size in order to ship it?
That will get her attention, I guess.
I had a problem with my bath bombs last week. I could not reach the customer and after waiting my 48 hrs, I sent off the rest of the order and explained that her bath bomb would ship soon thereafter.
Once she received my first order, she checked back in her account and contacted me that she was very happy.
Go figure. I prayed that she was ok..and she was.
Shows that you really care and not just send a ring out without making sure it will fit.
Just my opinion...
Good luck
