What kind of printer are you using?

This is a question to all of you who sell your amazing photographs, art prints and postcards on etsy:

What printer are you using and are you satisfied with the quality?

Which one would you buy if you didn't have to worry about finances?

Congratulations! Awesome work. I've only got eight but I'm going to try and double it by the end of March :)

sorry wrong discussion! though I've recently used 'inky little fingers' for printing some notebooks which was a fantastic quality and speedy service :)

Re: What kind of printer are you using?

I've heard of a lot of people using Epson printers... I don't know enough about them to know if ALL Epsons are considered archival.

I would like to know about this, too!

Re: What kind of printer are you using?

Thank you, Jennifer. I am reading and learning a lot but thought that it would be best to ask experienced people.

I am also wondering if pigment or dye inks are better.

Re: What kind of printer are you using?

I'm using an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 with the archival inks that Epson recommends to go with it. I'm very happy with it.

I've heard really great things about the Epson R2880, but it wasn't in my budget yet.

Re: What kind of printer are you using?

I have the Epson r2880 and I love it, however if money were no issue I would go with the r3880 or r4900. The ink is expensive but it's worth it for the quality. Also, Epson customer service is amazing! They not only spent 2 hours on the phone with me when I was having some software issues but they also replaced all the ink that had been damaged... free and shipped overnight! I also have their mid-range large format scanner and have had nothing but great things to say about both products and customer service.

Re: What kind of printer are you using?

Also, I took a risk and purchased my printer (and ink) off eBay used, I lucked out but Epson Customer Service even provided excellent service regardless of where i bought my materials in fact they never even asked.

Re: What kind of printer are you using?

I use the Epson Artisan 835 and I absolutely love it! I find that it works best with Epson paper, and also paper that is really good quality, like what I use for my cards...card-stock, not so much :)

Re: What kind of printer are you using?

Stephanie, thank you so much! I have been swinging back and forth between Epson and HP and it seems like Epson is the better choice. The R2880 works with pigment inks, right? I've been reading that they are not as bright and saturated as dye inks but of course, last longer. What is your experience?

Re: What kind of printer are you using?

Yes the inkset is pigment, and as far as brightness I think the main issue that a lot of people have is using proper color management and paper profiles. I've found that as long as I have my paper profiles set properly my prints come out bright and colorful. I use mostly Canon Professional Premium Paper, Red River Paper, and Ilford Smooth Pearl Paper for my prints and so far I love them, but again I had to figure out the best profiles for each paper I use to get the best color output. It took a bit of trial and error but with a little help from epson I was able to make the right selections. Convo me directly if you have any specific questions, I would love to make an epson believer out of you too, but I don't often check my threads!

Re: What kind of printer are you using?

Sonya, thanks for starting this thread. I do use an HP and it does the job, but I've seen prints from the Epsons and they are amazing. Hoping to get one soon!

Re: What kind of printer are you using?

Stephanie--

is your scanner a flatbed or one of those feed-through ones?

I would LOVE a flatbed scanner that does larger than 9x12. Every time I use a feed-through one, I either get drag lines, or it discolors anything that is not 100% flat (like if the edge of the paper is slightly wrinkled from paint warping).
