What is the point of having a StumbleUpon account?

I read on a blog that it was one of the best ways of promoting yourself. Having opened an account I'm not sure that this is the case!

Any thoughts, has anyone else got an account?

I'm absolutely in love with StumbleUpon, as it has made the internet seem magical again to me! Wondrous things can be stumbled upon.

StumbleUpon allows its members to "like" interesting websites, and arranges them according to category. The premise is to share the best finds on the internet. As a member, you pick out the categories you're interested in, and StumbleUpon does its best to show you, in a randomized manner, the awesome things that others have found to be cool among the categories you're fascinated by.

It's mostly frowned upon to "like" your own site, though; I think it's kind of in bad taste.

I have had a StumbleUpon account for years. I have to say, I don't know that it does much to promote my shop on Etsy, but it is very addicting and a great way to see whats out there. The more you" thumbs up" pages, the more it learns what you like and your results become more tailored to your interests. You can also share you finds with others and vice versa.
