What is WITH this listing?!!?

Arg! I am having the hardest time with this listing! I have put it on all my sites and social sites (like all my other products) and this one get ZERO comments, likes, and so super little views! I have tried all different photos for the main picture and alternate pictures.

I can't quite capture the cashmere, as it looks a bit felted, which it isn't, but I can't imagine that's what causing it to be totally lost. I have tried featuring it on the top of my shop also, and nuttin!

In person, I am totally in love with the blanket, and just can't understand why people don't like it :( Any advice/critiques would be so appreciated!

I don't know about why that's happening. I have had items with thousands of views and tons of likes that never sold. I've also had items with less than 10 views and zero likes that sold within a matter of hours or a day or two. Sometimes that stuff just doesn't matter.

I'm not sure what search terms people would use for this, because I myself am not in the market for a baby blanket. I did a quick search for "cashmere baby blanket" and out of 100 items, your item is about halfway down page 2 of 3.

You can probably get yourself higher if you include "cashmere blanket' as one of your tags (I didn't see that listed, even though that's what this item is). I see 'upcycled sweater' in your tags but I don't know that anyone would necessarily search for that. I would also change the first line of your description to read 'This cashmere baby blanket is made from an unbelievably luxurious vintage Bergdorf Goodman 100% grey cashmere sweater." You might also want to rearrange the words in your title to "cashmere baby blanket, upcycled sweater, etc." That way the words 'cashmere baby blanket' are in your title, first few words of your description and your tags.

Other than that, I don't know what else to suggest. I have a few items in my shop that seem to be lost and unloved too. No matter how many times I tweak them they still don't seem to get many viewers.

@Judy thanks so much! I have changed all that, which all makes perfect sense :)

And yes, it's so true that some items just don't get a lot of views and sell anyway, but I find that my products that sell get the most views. With about 400 views a day I just couldn't understand why this one hardly get any! Thanks again for the advice!

Would it give you comfort if I said I got quite a few of those. I seem to be the only one who love the pieces, but others don't think so. To a point I second guess myself. Why did I have a nudge to make this which later turned out to be a flop. I guess that's the nature of business.

Have you tried playing around with tags and titles. That's what I normally do. It works. Or sometimes I tweak the items themselves. Pull out the colored beads and add the white pearls. Suddenly folks are favoriting and buying 'em. Or lower the price ha ha ha. Against the artisan code of conduct. It works too though.

I have this one flower necklace been sitting in the store for 6 months. I changed it a bit. It sold after 4 days. The second one of the same design within 2 weeks.

Who knows what the science behind this? If there's any :-)

I just searched it again. It's still on page 2 but it came up in the second row (better than halfway down!). Maybe that'll help. Good luck!

You have a darling shop with items that are just precious. I believe Judy gave you good advice in terms of re-titling the item that isn't drawing attention, and you seem to be happy with that. (I think it's a very sweet blanket myself.)

"Cashmere Baby Blanket Soft Baby Blanket Baby Boy Blanket" is probably how the SEO Team would suggest you title it. A long title, but their titles draw many more views than ordinary. They've advised me to try a long title on 2-3 items and watch the results. Sure enough, more views.

Let us know how this progresses.

Since you use photos of babies and children with your other items, the one thing I might add to what Judy suggests is that you actually have a baby in this blanket in a photo. Those are always very appealing photos and might engage a buyer a little more than just seeing the blanket by itself.

Also because there are so many items for baby girls, and fewer for baby boys (as I've learned as the Nana of a baby boy) you might also try promoting it as a baby blanket for boys. Not exclusively, but making sure to include it in your titles or tags.

My goodness! Thank you all for all this help! i actually whipped up a picture of my son with the blanket, which is now the first pic, just to give it a try. You can't see the blanket as well, but you can obviously tell the size and who it's intended for right away. I actually had a bit of a hard time getting it away from him :)

I altered my tags and my title, thank you!!!!

Love the new photo, especially since he obviously loves the soft feel of the blanket! Let's hope he helps to bring attention to it. It's an adorable picture, and it would surely get my attention right away.

Do you have a picture with the baby's face? I know you are seeling a beautiful blanket but sometimes a sweet baby face can get an item loads of attention. Just my thoughts for what its worth.

You must also remember this is a high end item. Average joes are not going to be looking for Cashmere blankets as much as just a plain ole flannel one.
Think of it this way, in a crowded room of moms there are going to be different economic classes. Like with any product the ones that cannot afford a $125 blanket are going to way out number the ones that can. The ones that cant, wont even come over and look at your item, hence the smaller views.

Thanks everyone :) I'll def keep the pic with my son as the first one. @Natasha, good point. My crochet blankets in lower price brackets do get more views and that is, I'm sure, one of the reasons.

Since changing that around, I have actually gotten a whole bunch of new views on the blanket (in addition to the ones you all have given haha) so it is DEF helping!! Yeah!

I can't thank you all enough! I actually went through and added the kiddies to a bunch of my listings to give some perspective (and cuteness)! I love how they are turning out! It occurred to me that most of my products that have sold have had my children (or children from a shoot) in them. Or me, like my hand or something. A tip for everyone else!

I am going to revisit my other baby blankets also and do the same. I used to be so caught up with the white background thing that I think it was limiting so much what I could do with other shots. Once I allowed myself to stray from that my sales and views have gone up. And this blanket is a prime example!

I don't know if moms should be your target market for this. As a mom, I would never pay that much for a blanket that will inevitably get poop and/or vomit on it.
BUT I can totally see this as a beautiful baby gift, even an heirloom-quality gift. Maybe you should include in your tags and titles "baby shower gift," "new baby gift," "heirloom baby gift." Those tags have helped me with some of my more expensive items.
