What is EtsyLush?

I have seen mention of EtsyLush on some of the forums and I am wondering what it is and if it is good promotion for an etsy shop. How does it work, how do you join and I have seen mention that you can upload your latest listings to the sight.

I don't have a clue about any of this and wondered if someone who understands it might be kind enough to enlighten me please as to what to do to upload listings.

Etsy Lush is a site were you can submit photos of your handmade items to be featured on their site.

I remember reading on a thread that Etsylush can have a negative effect on your shop. This was before I even understood Etsy itself... nonetheless it's cousin lush.

Any info on that?

I don't know about that, but according to what i've read on their site, they're pretty strict about what they select and what qualifies as handmade.

I am the owner of www.etsylush.com. I would love to know how submitting listings to our site can possibly have a negative effect?

When Sellers upload their listings and they are approved, we remove the 'no follow' so that search engines are able to follow your shop links.

We also promote relentlessly outside of Etsy as we feel that this is something which is often missed by Sellers. They promote here on Etsy, via forums, treasuries etc. but do little outside of it. This is why we set up the website.

We have over 30000 followers on Twitter (various accounts), a reach of 8000+ on Facebook, Pinterest 1696 followers, LinkedIn 350+ connections and we also add your items on HeartIt, StumbleUpon, Categorian and CraftJuice.

I have many messages from people telling me that they are getting a lot of traffic from our site and they are making sales. Personally, from my home decor shop I have around 200 hits a month from just a few items.

I did it. and Have submitted. One of my items was put on their site and I have no idea if the other did because this site is really terrible about telling you a. yes you were accepted or b. you were not. you are just left guessing. IF you can find your item great.

Do you know any shoppers who even know about this site? I would suggest pass- I tried it and was so not impressed.

I list my items on etsylush. Yes they have to get approved. Yes I get views from these listings. Yes they accept vintage items. I wouldn't say they are strict about what they select. I have yet to have something I have submitted turned down. I would say they are focused on outside promoting...for me that is a good thing!

I use it to promote my products. It accepts one item a day, mon-fri. No weekends. I get some traffic from it. It's free and it's another avenue to share your work. Traffic and free, what more could you want? More sales perhaps.

@BlueZinniaVintage, we have a very large vintage section. Go take a look. :-)


@Elizabeth R, All you need to do is click on 'my posts' at the bottom of the page. This will show all of your approved items. We also have many messages from people who have made several sales because of the site. Having several items in your author page brings the best results since I personally drive traffic to good looking pages.

Remember also that we remove the 'no follow' which means that your links are searchable by search engines, some sites block this. This gives you the valuable back links that you need for SEO.

No site where you promote just one or two items will give you good or great results. You need to fully commit to any site to get the best out of it. If you only half-commit, then it is difficult for the website to give you their best results.

What they are strict about is jewelry submissions.

The entire piece including the components need to be handmade by you. Items purchased elswhere and assembled, even if they are handmade, are not accepted and you are banned from Etsy Lush without notice.

Seems a little harsh but it's their site to run as they see fit.

They are supposedly very strict about choosing items to promote, and I'm a little confused about the criteria they look for. I've submitted some of my items and read the rules, but never got anything submitted and for some reason I don't have permission to use the site anymore. It's very confusing to get the jist of the site. Needless to say, I've moved on to to other sources of promotion that have worked very well for me.

Clara - in looking at your shop, I can see right away that you are banned for the same reason as me.

Your jewelry items have to be handmade from components handmade by you. Nothing purchased, even if it was handmade by someone else, can be used.

Rachel - This is probably why your items aren't being accepted as well. It appears they are very strict about jewelry submissions.

It does seem like banning without notice is a little harsh, but they are offering their service for free. People who don't meet their guidlelines just have to find other avenues to promote themselves. There are plenty out there.

Melissa - Wow, really? That's crazy. All my items require hard, hand-made work (especially the ball chain bracelets require heavy metal work to make sturdy), as I'm sure yours does as well. I didn't know there were two types of "hand-made", and that they only search for the "100%", not 99%. That's why I do much more sufficient promoting elsewhere, LOL.
