What does direct traffic really mean?

I get a lot of Direct Traffic and wondering where is it really coming from?

Direct traffic is people who type in your shop's URL. For example, direct traffic to my shop would be when people type openquotedesigns.etsy.com into their URL bar. Other traffic are referrals; when, for example, someone clicks a link (such as the one attached to your name on the forums) to your shop.

Twitter comes through as direct traffic if you are putting the links into your tweets.

I also get lots of Wanelo traffic coming through in the direct category.

I just got 60 direct traffic views for all sorts of items - looks like at the same time or within 30 mins. Even sold ones from this year and last year. It makes me wonder sometimes what these views are....
