What do you think of this?

A customer who purchased one of my premade blog templates has made some changes to the template.

Basically, I noticed I had lot's of traffic coming from a blog so i viewed it and saw it was a customer's blog. I was surprised to see my graphics in the template had been changed, but I wasn't upset about this as it was minor colour changes.

What has upset me is she's gone into the html coding and removed my credit and made a blog post about how she was in the process of designing her new template (my template).

My templates are cheap and I code my credit into these templates so it's as discreet as possible. I feel like she's ripped me off by claiming the template as her own and whilst my credit was in tack, i'd received lot's of views to my shop.

Should I mention anything at all? Or just leave it be?

Re: What do you think of this?

Hi Leanne,
While loosing referral traffic due to the changes is less than ideal, I would lean towards moving on in this instance. There is nothing in your listing that specifies a customer cannot customize your template files as they wish after purchase.

I see in your shop policies you say "It is illegal to distribute, copy or manipulate our products in any way, shape or form without permission" but if this includes changing any part of a template I think it could be clearer as most template files I have encountered are not sold in this way.

Do you sell your templates at the specified price because your business model includes the benefit of referrals from existing installations or do you think your pricing is fair value for the design and code you offer. Either way it may be an opportunity to evaluate your listing details, shop policies, or maybe even your post purchase expectations to add clarity to match.

Great shop by the way! Your designs are awesome.

But you're still getting traffic from the blog? You must be credited somewhere, right?

Re: What do you think of this?

Thanks ladies for your replies.

I have a T.O.U file in my packages but i guess it isn't really specified enough. Never actually thought of it like this before. I will move on and ignore this and then re-evaulate my T.O.U.

Thank you again. (And for your compliments Janice).

(Lix, the traffic was from a few days ago but had since stopped)

Re: What do you think of this?

Oh I should just clarify, the images that have been changed that got my attention were the ones actually embedded into the code. Not the files that are for customizing lol.

Re: What do you think of this?

Her prices are really quite low!

It is sad that someone is taking advantage and taking credit. Sorry I have absolutely no helpful information!!
