It does seem toned down to me too, I agree with CrochetBabyBoutique. Also, I think symbols are great when they are with words, but the fact that in the header they are listed alone and you have to scroll over them to see their true meaning is frustrating. I really want to help my mom start an etsy store, but I'm not sure if she'll be able to find everything and understand the layout, as she isn't very tech-savvy.
1) I could never figure out how the chats work. I signed up once for a chat scheduled for a certain time and I signed in to chat at the assigned time, there nothing going on.
2) I am still having a hard time figuring out all the ins and outs of Etsy and how to be part of a treasury, what a curator does, how to appear on the chosen items that appear on daily emails, and so on... Now Etsy turns around and creates changes that require more reading and learning.... Not happy about it. At first glance, I also don't like the new look, too grey....
I also had a hard time finding where the virtual labs were. I do like the new header. My only question is now with all the changes My Treasuries no longer shows on my profile page along with TEAMS, etc. Where did it go?
I like it! It always takes time to adjust to a new user interface but in the end I feel like all of the etsy site changes are beneficial to both seller and buyers.
