Renewing still helps with your views going up. I've been noticing a good upsurge in views whenever I renew items. Also, try some different things with your photos. They're pretty good, but the backgrounds behind the aprons are kind of distracting - try something in a solid color, if you can, and learn to love natural light. It's what I use in most of the photos in all of my shops (there are a few oldies that I took in a lightbox left).
Trust me - get those photos going and you'll get more views. On Ebay, photos aren't quite as important. Here on Etsy, they're 85% of how you get great views. I've reshot my shop more times than I care to think of - it really does make a difference.
Promote everywhere and anywhere on and offline. I hand out business cards, post in promotion threads, Facebook, twitter, stumble upon, tumblr, pinterest, blogs, etc. basically everywhere and anywhere!
Have you heard of wanelo? There is a separate thread on this team for this one. It brings some views, also SEO..tags tags tags. It is terribly time consuming to read all of the advice but it worked for me.
Thanks for starting this thread, and for everyone who has responded. It is all helpful, I am in the same boat about promotion, sort of not sure where to begin. I agree that changing photos out helps. I have re shot my shop a couple times so far, its a ton of work but it seems more satisfying when I look at it at a glance.
It helps me to post in the threads of the teams and to post new items often. Also, I am in many circles, try to take good photos and tag according to how I think the buyers will search for the items. Learning pinterest; others seem to like it. Twitter annoys me, so I stopped doing that. I had way too much spam.
Twitter brings me a lot of views, but I haven't sold from there. Still, I love getting the views, because, as they say, you never know. Views can at least show interest, and that is where it all begins!
There really isn't a set way to do things that will guarantee views and sales. You have to just keep trying things until you find a way that works for you. And the list is constantly changing of what works so eventually you will have to try other things again.
sorry, me again. in going hand in hand with this post... i am just dicovering new sites you mentioned, for wanelo, do people usually list their own products in their collections and promote that way?
Wow thanks for all the responses!! I have been working on re-tagging again, and it seems to be helping a bit. I do have Twitter and Facebook, but neither seem to be getting me anywhere. And as for my Apron pictures, I don't have anywhere else to shoot :[ I understand my wall is a bit colourful but it's all I have at the moment.
Also, on Stumble Upon, if you download the Stumble toolbar, you can go to your pages and click the green thumbs up "i like it!" button, it gets you pretty much instantaneous views.
