What are you using as your white background?

I know everyone is loving white backgrounds these days, but I am having a hard time finding a good white background. I have used fotofuze for a few of my photos and do not like the way it makes my item look like it's floating in space. I've tried lace, cardstock, wood, everything and can't seem to find a good balance between warmth and professional. Anyone have anything they use for a background that works well for them?

I just use posterboard like many other people, but this is a great thread! I learned a lot reading through it.

I use white corrugated card. Gives me the white with a little texture to make it less clinical.

A piece of white poster board on the floor and one taped to the wall. $1 total at Walgreens.

White posterboard or foam core board leaned up against the sliders in my sun room. Lots of indirect sunlight out there.

Maybe it's just me, but I really like the look of natural backgrounds. I use my twig/grass nest, cork or kraft paper exclusively. I'm new - just started listing on Sept. 1, but for some reason my eye is more drawn to photos that are more than white. Maybe I'll change my mind, but for now, I'm sticking with it.

I just started using white soft fleece or other white with a little texture vs. posterboard ...I don't think I have any pics up yet of that (just TOOK 860!) but it is softening the appearance of what I've taken.

As far as white balance, I don't have good natural light these days (too much rain!) so I made my own light box and over it, on one side I placed one 75W full spectrum bulb and on the other side, one 75 watt "GE Reveal." Then set my white balance to FLUORESCENT, not incandescent...and this seems to be helping me so that I need to make only a minor adjustment here or there.

I use a large piece of white picture-mounting card, held in a curved shape by a large loop of elastic at each side. This gets rid of the join between baseboard and backboard that used to look untidy. I photograph outside in dry overcast weather, which only happens in short spells here in Ireland. Most photo sessions involve a lot of dashing in and out between showers!

I just recently converted all my photos to white backgrounds and also use white poster board or foam board. I also made a small light box for photographing my stitch markers.

I just started photographing on white minky dot fabric for the texture. Most of the time I use white poster board.

The walls in my house are mostly white (not by choice, we are renting). That and we ended up getting white dining room chairs as well. I love using those with the natural wood in my dining room. The only problem is it is hard to get good lighting in there!

I use a white table cloth against a white, almost sheer pull down shade I got from IKEA. When the sun comes through it, it's a perfect backdrop and I can roll it up when I don't want to see it or I want to see outside! :)
