What Subject, Price Range??

If and when you looks for art to buy...like as in paintings or prints...what subject do you usually search for? Do you like animals, people, landscapes?? I just want to see what people like in general. Do you look for big expensive paintings...or smaller ones? What price range do you go for?

Re: What Subject, Price Range??

I like large abstract, but generally do them myself, but I do love looking at and shopping for landscapes that are out if the normal scope of what is usually available.

My price range is pretty low, but that does nit mean that I would not save for a special piece that I love....I would rather have just one exquisitely wonderful piece in a room that cost me more than have something on every wall that cost the same amount.....say $500 for my top range.

I hope that helps.

Re: What Subject, Price Range??

Thanks guys! I like that Cocokate...saving up for one really awesome piece.

I want to be able to sell my work but I want people to love it and have that urge to buy it. So I'm having a bit of trouble with relevancy, doing what I love, and also getting sales/views.

Re: What Subject, Price Range??

I like colorful inspirational unique pieces, has to call my attention and be fun. I'm not a fan of people or animals or anything of that sort. I've seen some pretty neat pieces here and others look generic. I actually got one from Ikea for my room and its a woman but I fell in love with it very whimsical.

Size is only when I have a specific place I want it for.

Re: What Subject, Price Range??

I like inspirational quotes, pop culture, or something sentimental as a poster print. My range is 15$-20$ and I might be willing to pay more if I really like it and it's something I have to have.

Re: What Subject, Price Range??

We have an eclectic collection of art throughout our house. A friend of ours painted a few abstract pieces for us that hang in our living room and daughter's room, another friend gave us a piece she bought in Japan. We purchased some art photos for our bedroom (here on Etsy!), and I painted a watercolor duckie that hangs in our bathroom. Our son has hung his own drawings on the walls in his room, so we didn't need to decorate in there. Most of our pieces are pretty small (roughly 8"x10"), but much larger ones hang in the living room- the largest is about 2'x4'.

We would be likely to buy a piece if we found something we liked, but our funds are pretty limited these days. We prefer asian/oriental style art or abstracts.

Re: What Subject, Price Range??

I love to buy seasonal landscapes, like fall paths through the woods, winter cabins in the woods, summer lake scenes and spring wildflowers. There are a couple artists here on Etsy that I just drool over their work. My budget isn't very big but like others I would save for that one great piece.
