Weddings section????

So how do we maximise our chances of getting in here????

One of my items is showing, but I listed it ages ago, haven't tweaked it's tags or anything, but listings that I've relisted and relisted, and changed tags and titles don't!

Anyone know?!?!

funny thing, i looked under Bridal Accessories, Bouquets and there in the middle of the page was a clutch purse that had ZERO tags or description with Bridal, Wedding, Bouquet in it....

We've gotten a few hits from the new weddings section but not nearly as many as we get from regular searches this week.

Does anyone know if there is/will be any way to search weddings by style?We come up pretty high (usually on each of the 1st 5 pages or so) in searches for "beach wedding" but I'm worried that won't get us any appearances in the new wedding section since we don't show up much when searching "wedding" without "beach"

That's making my heart sink. How do you get the Etsy staff to like your item enough to put it in?

I am not a seller of wedding based items, but this has got my goat!

Correct me if i'm wrong, I just checked it out for the first time so may be mistaken, but does this not just turn the weddings category into a popularity contest?

It is a popularity contest. No Admin has to answer our questions concerning how much of it is curated, nor why they only display 1% of the market place.

Their lack of answer is answer enough for me though..

I hope most people continue to search using the regular search bar at the top, or I'll never have any views again :( It's not right that they are only showing so many invitations under the wedding invitation section (and they are not all even wedding invitations???) and the "there are no more items to display" is very misleading. If you search "wedding invitations", 230 pages of items come up. So far I have not noticed them switch any of their "chosen" listings out for others either, it's been the same ones since this happened. :(

Geeze, this is a bummer. Usually I average 50-100 favorites a day, today I am up to 3, and I think those were sympathy likes! Not sure where my viewers went, but they have completely disapeared. Was up to 206 views yesterday, today, barely 60. Not liking this at all.

I would hazard a guess and say that 100% of the new section is curated. Because if it wasn't, then all of our correctly tagged and titled items would be showing up, not just a select 'nice' few.

This is clearly a business move on Etsy's part. They want to attract the wedding crowd. They know that a lot of brides would find a return of 800 pages of any type of item overwhelming. But what they have gone ahead and done is so cynical and cruel.

The emails and articles alerting us of this new way of doing things have been so cleverly worded. Telling us if our items are optimised for search, there is nothing else we need to do. What they have failed to disclose is that Etsy admin will ultimately decide what will make it into the weddings section.

How cruel.

i agree - i actually sent an email asking about this and rec'd the same response about tags etc....um hello, if the registry is pulling up items that are tagged for weddings there would be 100s of products coming up, but that's not the case! It seems like Etsy is trying to make the move to sites like style me pretty and the like. good luck - they will completely lose a huge part of their business (ie SELLERS) once people realize they are selling us out for the small percentage of sellers that they really love. Messed up!

Holy crap guys! I just looked and one of my invitations is in their wedding section now! It obviously was chosen as this one has never even appeared in the top in relevancy and isn't one of my more popular designs.. in fact it's on the low end and barely any hearts but I guess they like it?

So at least they ARE changing the listings that get picked, but it's not about relevancy since I have a different 2 designs in the first 11 pages of invitations on the general search.

I have no idea....

It makes me nervous that I'm going to be putting up a large number of new designs over the summer that might never get seen though...

My ring was right near the top of the ring section the first day, but now it's nowhere to be found. My red birdcage veil seems to be pretty consistently coming up, but none of my others, which doesn't really make sense to me. Perhaps the Etsy gods will deign to enlighten us one day.

Still at three favorites. This is weird. My wedding things usually get a lot of love, but today, nothing. Weird.

The good news is, from what I can see in my views from today it looks like most views are still just coming from the search bar at the top. The invitation I have that is in the "special picked" section of the new wedding category has only had one view, and the 2 I have higher up in the relevancy sorted pages have at least 20 each. Hope things stay that way!

Thanks for the good news Rozena...we're experiencing the same thing with most views still coming from search although overall stats have been low the past 2 days for us.
