WARNING about Taste Test

So yesterday I took an Etsy Taste Test to help me create a treasury. Lo and behold, the Taste Test feature has become a permanent fixture on my FP. The first two rows of products on my FP are NOT the FP Treasury, but instead 2 rows of products matching my Taste Test results.

The FP Treasury has now been bumped down.

I emailed Etsy Admin about this, and they said there is nothing they can do. It's an official etsy beta tool, but they can't make it so that it doesn't get stuck to your FP after you take the Taste Test. They can't remove it. And they probably won't change the coding of this so-called-app in order for it to stay hidden on the beta portion of the site where it's always been.

My FP is hideous and there's nothing I can do about it.

Just wanted to give you all a warning to not use the Taste Test app unless you want your FP to be permanently scarred.

A little too late for me lol but I know what you mean. There should be a way to get rid of it OR have a little link to "recommendations" based on your taste test similar to the way they do it on Amazon

I use to not dig it...but now I have had it for many months and have learned top like it. I just retook it to switch up what appears.

I think there's a way to unistall the beta tool. I remember reading about it in the forums... Then your FP should return.

I keep retaking it - but it seems no matter what I choose in my taste test, I end up with the same stuff made out of fox or cat skulls and a baby doll head that's been made into an air plant planter. Not sure why Etsy keeps trying to push this stuff on me - it's definitely not what I'm interested in in the least bit!

Really? I emailed etsy about it, and they said there was nothing they can do. Any info you may have @NyeDesigns, I would really appreciate it!

Dumb question...is FP your "Favorites Page" or what?

Its the Front Page (Etsy's main/home page). The taste test makes it show your preferences, not the treasury that is being featured. I want to see the treasury since I'm on treasury-making teams so I never took, nor will I ever take the taste test

Well, that's what i thought FP meant, but I didn't know the taste test would affect what you see on the FP. I took it once early on, but haven't noticed that anything I clicked on shows on the FP when I go there. That would really be a bother! Thanks for warning us...I was thinking of experimenting with the taste test again.

yep, I made this mistake too. lolz at Molly about the baby head planters. omg, mine is full of bike bags and brass insects for some reason. a little off. hahaha.

I waited to take it when they changed it - and I am so glad I did. I think there's a tool on FireFox to get rid of it, but once you get rid of it, you can't ever get it back.

I took it awhile ago and I dislike it. BUT, I don't dislike the idea, i just don't like the things that show up. I took the taste test, but never clicked on anything that would resemble creepy dolls or skulls (not that these are valid and appreciated items, just not my taste) and they show up in my tt frequently. It needs to be looked at again. or maybe, if they want specific to the acct owner stuff on the front page, they could base it on what the person looks at. I guess there might be privacy issues there, but either way, they need to rework the taste test.

Well I took the taste test the first time I joined etsy so I've always been used to it. I actually like it up there because I have found a lot of neat items up there!

My dream is to have a button to reject some of the odd items that occasionally appear in "Items Matching Your Taste". I have taken the taste test several times hoping to improve or clarify what I really do like, but the items that show on my front page are a bit wonky at times. When I take the taste test to try to improve my results, it makes me extremely leary to click some items that I do love, ie a great illustration of a cat, because I have found my results don't contain more great illustrations, they contain countless...cats. ugh. lol

I have never seen Etsy any other way. I barely remember taking a taste test but I think I did it early on so that would be why I never new any different. I think it is kind of a nice personal touch.

When I logged on today, my taste test had a new option "REMOVE"!!!
So I clicked it and guess it, the goofy taste test section is gone!
