Views tanked!

I cannot understand what is going on... I was happy with the direction my Etsy shop was going. I had a great start of the year, but when March hit things start to get pretty slow. My busy season is wedding season, so I waited, and waited... June got better, but July and August got bad again :( The last week has been exceptionally bad and I cannot understand why. This last week I've been getting around 20 views a day (last year was more like 200/day). And to make this even more weird, I've been extra active on Etsy (creating treasuries and posting new items) as I am not having to spend so much time in the studio.
Has anybody experience the same?
I wonder if this has anything to do with the changes to the front page (no more FP treasury for new viewers or with the new feedback (I can't see why as I have excellent feedback).

@Flavia, I think August has been exceptionally quiet for a lot of Sellers. This is not so unusual since many people take their holiday during this month. At the moment people are also getting ready to get the kids back at school. Personally, I expect August to be quiet and I have even closed my shops during this month for that reason. Come 2nd week in September, I think it will pick up again. Fingers crossed.

July 2012 was my second best month last year, just behind Christmas. This year, July was my worst month so far (both in views and revenue). I started doing the Search Ads, and it did give me some sales and it is being worth it so far, but it still does not compensate for the huge drop in views and sales.
There is a shop that started selling money clips very similar to my plain best selling money clips. Her pictures are also very similar to mine, but her price is lower. This happened around March, which is also when my views and sales started to drop. My bullet money clips views and sales didn't drop as much. I am now trying to get more successful items out there...
Hopefully you are right Cathy and it will get better. My fingers are definitely crossed. Thank you for the insight.

We were doing great in August and then on August 22, views and sales dropped drastically.

We were maintaining about 33-35 listings (we sell Jewelry Boxes) and by August 22 we had sold about 1/3 of our listings. However I had added listings to keep the count up, but we sold a few listings that were ranked high on the popular and coveted "Jewelry Box" search.

Am I to assume that this would make a difference?

August has definitely been slower here, but I did welcome the change after wedding season was busier than I expected. My views have been cut drastically from 5 to 7 hundred in a day to 2 to 4 hundred. I just wait & see what each day brings. Good Luck!!

I have much less time to contrast with but I was getting 100+ views/day earlier this month, and I got up to 12 sales (only open since the 1st), but it seems like this week it's gone totally dead! I've only gotten about 50 views/day and no sales for days...

Because I'm new I'm feeling very dejected at the change, but I'm guessing that's normal...?

I have been open since December 2011. When I started Etsy I was thinking about returning to work as my son was a little over a year old. Views and sales were going so good that I had to put my son in school 3 times a week so I could work, and of course, I did not have to get a 9-5 job. Etsy was my full time job. July and August have been really bad, but last week has been even worst, with less than 40 views/ day!
Do you think my items are no longer a hot item? Is it the competition?
I would appreciate any insight on my shop and/or items.

Its very hard to say why your views are down..

Your tags/titles look good to me. Are you promoting? Are you checking to see what pages your items are on when searching for them? Are you handing out business cards or tucking them in when you go out to restaurants? Are you advertising on any blogs/magazines/etc.

Basically what are YOU doing to bring in traffic?

I've been doing basically the same I've always did, plus a few extra things:
- added a few new items
- more treasuries
- search ads
That's exactly why I am so puzzled. If I am doing the same plus some extras, shouldn't my views and sales be steady, if not going up???
