Very worried

In the last 2 days, I have had numerous repeated keyword searches trying to obtain my phone number.
vintage archaeology in longwood florida
telephone number for karen morgan in longwood florida
and other variations

A friend suggested that someone is attempting to hack into my account. If this is true, what can I do about this???

Karen, that's a bad feeling. If I'm you I will contact Etsy with your problem.
I'm not sure if that can be a hacker or somebody looking for extra information over you. Sometime buyers will do that. Even check your address on Google map.

It could be it's exactly what it looks likes - somebody wants your phone# so they can call you.

I have attempted to contact Etsy, but all I see are pull downs that do not come close to this issue. I never had any reason to contact Etsy, so I am really in the dark.

Just because they want her number does not mean she wants them to have it. That's why I do not have my last name listed publicly here, and my number is private.

Karen, you can send an email directly to Support@etsy.com and express your concerns there, if you wish. I would be extremely uncomfortable with that situation.

To Doreen's point, a lot of people don't understand the anonymity of e-selling or that you may not also have a brick and mortar location that they can visit, too. I did a custom order for one of my mom's friends recently and she was absolutely horrified that a telephone number wasn't included on my business cards and no amount of explanation lessened her concern about a matter she viewed as an egregious breach of business etiquette.

It also may be a business to business sales person trying to locate your contact number to sell you something. Within days of setting up my business, I was bombarded with sales calls and junk mail for everything from banking services to business cards.

That's why I like e-selling. Emails and convos are controllable, to a point. If I had a B & M, that would be one thing. I don't, and I will not give out my cell to any customer for any reason.

I hope it is not a serious issue, I usually ask for a contact number to my clients. The postal office does not receive the packages if I don't include the phone number of the recipient.

I have recently had to look for peoples phone numbers online. Canada Post recently changed their customs forms for expedited mail and you MUST list a phone number or you can't progress with the online shipping labels (or in person at the post office either). I've tried to contact the customer and sometimes they are slow in responding and I want to get their parcel in the mail so I'll look it up. Unfortunately Etsy doesn't ask customers for phone numbers and customers do often include that information in their correspondence.

My husband says that I am not interpreting the data correctly. All I see are 15 hits on three sets of keywords that seeking my number. Talk about becoming paranoid!
