Using the "Quantity" Feature For Success

Hi all!

Just thought I'd mention that, for my bestsellers, I've been having success editing the listing to sell quantities of 3 or 4 rather than just one item. I find that when I do this, people will purchase 2 or 3 at a time. This is also great for large influxes of traffic, like a front page feature, Heartsy deal, or holidays, that you can't always plan on.

This may be common sense but I just started doing it after a year here and find it to be effective.

Laura - When you're creating/editing a listing, scroll right to the bottom and you'll see a quantity box :)

I did this for a while, but all it did was making my listing fees multiply.

Until recently, I split them up into different listings for different sizes and used the quantities. As soon as I did it my sales stopped. As soon as I changed it back this week, I've made 2 sales! I don't know if it's anything to do with the quantities feature but it was very strange! Etsy mind screw ;)

Hmm... I sell jewelry so maybe it has to do with your product too. All I know is that I've had people buy more multiples this way. But I only do it on my best sellers, not everything... May not work for everyone but work for me :)

This is a great idea for popular items in your shop. I also mention in my listing to convo me if you want more than number listed. Then I either adjust the listing, or create a reserved listing for the customer and send them the link for purchase. But, you if you want to catch the impulse buyer, you have to have the quantities available on the spot.

I also made a listing for a lot of 6 of my most popular item (hand warmers) and then discounted it a few dollars. I actually come out ahead if one person buys 6 at a discount, than if 6 different people buy one item when you count in the time/cost of packaging the items for shipping.
