Urgent question

I have a buyer that just signed up today and asked if I could make a item that sold along time ago. I stated I would try and he came back with a smart $&@ comment and told me he would wait because he lives out of country. I referred him to a shop that I knew would provide what he needed but he still said he would wait. I feel a little sketch about it.. No favs, no feedback, just joined... Am I being crazy?????

Re: Urgent question

You could always list the item and have him pay first before you go out on a limb to make/obtain materials for the item?

Re: Urgent question

I agree with SunshineJ, list it & if they are interested they can purchase it.

Re: Urgent question

this feels odd to me. I would avoid this sale as it may be a lot of trouble and stress...

Re: Urgent question

This definitely seems a little sketchy, but I agree with everyone else; create a listing for him and have him pay for it ahead of time. Good luck!

Re: Urgent question

Hmm, that does sound odd. I would, as the others stated, relist it and see if he purchases. I would not make anything/ buy the materials until you have received payment!

Re: Urgent question

I agree that I would avoid the sale. I had a strange inquiry for one of my items earlier this week. New person to Etsy plus he did not have an email registered with Etsy. To respond he gave me his personal email. I did not respond and how this happened (no registered email with Etsy) I do not know.
Maybe you could tell them, oops ... you realize you no longer have all of the supplies needed to make it.

Re: Urgent question

We agree. This does not "feel" right. Nice customers do not make smart a@@ remarks.

Is English this buyers native language?

We have done a lot of international business and sometimes buyers who speak a different language may not realize that what they are trying to say in English is not coming off right.

Re: Urgent question

always get the payment before you do anything

unfortunatley in our lovely etsy community there are scammers

when I first joined a "new" shop said they wanted to buy my most expensive listing (a suite of 6 prints) but they wanted me to use their personal email and not the etsy convoy system

I was green and excited and sent them a personall email only to never hear back and their shop dissapeared

I still don't know what they may have gotten from me. I don't think I gave them anything useful but it felt like some kind of identity theft fishing exercise

it was defintiely torture
most likely these folks won't follow up with an actual purchase

it's rare, but they are out there

seller beware
