USPS the most reliable?

What carrier your use? A buyer asked me why I shipped via USPS which is the most reliable and predictable. And for safety I sent with registered air mail, first class. He further complained why he had to spend time to collect the parcel because he's not at home when the postman delivered the parcel. It's my first time to receive this kind of feedback. DHL Fedex he expected ?

If not USPS, what you use? Kindly advise.

I use USPS because it's the cheapest. Why was he expecting DHL FedEx? You have no control over the fact that he had to go pick it up. That's something he needs to take up with his local post office. If he didn't bother to take the time to read your shop policies, then it's his own fault for not knowing your shipping policies. It sounds like he just wants to be mad about something.

Like Kellye, I use USPS because it's the cheapest! It has worked out very well for me so far. As long as it's in your shop policies, you should be fine.

USPS is the way to go. We ship priority mail - love the "if it fits, it ships" boxes. I would think the customers would too, as anything that keeps our expenses down benefits them, too.

It was sent registered so I believe a signature is required. If the buyer isn't there to sign then he would need to be drive to the PO, sign, and pick it up. USPS first class should suffice since it includes delivery confirmation. I use USPS for all deliveries as it's the cheapest and most reliable for me.

Re: USPS the most reliable?

Merie,

Since you are in Singapore, I don't think you can use USPS. USPS is the United States Postal Service which is run by the United States Government.

Your customer had to go to the post office to collect the package because you sent it registered mail and that cannot be left in a post box.

I'd suggest that you send your packages using the Singapore mail system. For larger packages you can use a private carrier such as DHL but you will need to remember that the customer may have to pay huge brokerage fees to DHL as well.

Re: USPS the most reliable?

I use USPS because to me it is a more "green" choice. I live way out in the country and the postal carrier comes out here every day. When I buy something on line, and it is delivered by UPS or Fed X, a great big brown or white truck has to drive the many miles out to my house. What a waste. If the sender had used USPS, they would have been using a carrier that has to come out here every day anyway.

Re: USPS the most reliable?

USPS is the choice for me, and is by for the least expensive for most etsy sellers. Fed ex and ups give the most breaks on commercial delivery, and most etsy sellers, like myself, are shipping individual items to residential listings. The cost, convenience and security can be shared by seller and buyer in this way (If it costs less, the buyer pays less!!) the irony is even of one ships by ups or FedEx, they also use the post office in many legs of their journeys, especially to rural or outlying areas. So even if you ship via a different carrier, the item can sometimes still spend a little time in a USPS truck!!!

Re: USPS the most reliable?

USPS is the quickest and easiest for me. I have to drive a much greater distance to get to any of the other options and they are more espensive for me. Never realized how lucky we are to have this option here in the US.

Re: USPS the most reliable?

Thanks all for endorsing that USPS is not a bad choice. I'm feeling better now. I think that buyer had terrible experience with USPS before.

I think I'll keep sending items with registered mail. That's the only way I can prove that the item has been mailed in case there's any enquiry from buyers.
