USPS postage increase

I know they're increasing postage rates in January. Does anyone know how this will effect first class package rates? I found an article about it on the website, but I only saw where it mentioned letter mail and priority flat rate boxes.

Wow I used flat rate a lot, but the price increase is outrageous, time to rethink shipping. I didn't notice first class packages either. Maybe call your Post Office they should know.

hmmm...it's getting so expensive! That's quite a substantial increase...thank you for sharing though. Supposedly "Effective Jan. 27, 2013 the first-class letter stamps will increase one penny. 45-cent first-class stamps will rise to 46 cents and postcard stamps will be 33 cents" Bummer.

I wonder what the new rates will be for Paypal and Etsy shipping. The 1, 2 & 3 oz packages are $1.95 at the P.O. and $1.64 through Paypal and Etsy right now. The increase might be small enough for my shop to absorb the cost.

Me too, most if not all my items weigh less than 4 oz most only 2oz but if a person orders mulitples it does go up. I will have to keep a close eye and try to get all my custom orders I have now out before the increase takes place.

Edee, thanks for posting this! I had no idea. I like sending my prints in a flat rate envelope, they get there so quick which the customers appreciate and it's nice not having to buy mailers. Guess it's time to ship first class.

Ugh, I just spent hours making a spreadsheet of every weight class I use at every rate available (I'm part of the Etsy drop-down shipping rate beta test). Time to redo!

Makes me wish I sold pdf files!!!

Wow, thanks for posting this! I didn't realize it was going to cost an extra dollar per size of the priority flate-rate boxes. I may have to switch to first class as well.

Terri, you should be able to purchase Forever Stamps at the current cost if you go to your PO. They don't go up until postage the postage increase goes into effect.

Just an FYI ... There are Forever Priority Flat Rate Slips too if you know you shop a lot of items Priority this could be an option.

I do free us and Canada shipping for most of my items so this is going to kill me!

Russell and Megan, the international shipping is going way up for first class international shipping. :( For very lightweight items, instead of costing around $3 to ship it will cost $6.55 instead. D=
