Two different qualities of wooden box to create my Memory Boxes

Hi - I create Decoupaged Memory Boxes by beginning with wooden boxes from a Major craft retailer. Recently I have had trouble finding the boxes with which to create my Memory Boxes. So I contacted a local wood crafter to make the boxes for me In addition I was finally able to make the purchase of the boxes from the retailer via special order.
So, My question is.... Would it be confusing to the customer to offer my Memory Boxes at two different "qualities' so to speak as the beginning product is different - one mass produced, and the other hand crafted ("Made in Michigan" )by a local wood worker.
I would estimate that the same end product Memory Box made with two different beginning products would be about $12 different in retail price.

I don't think it would be confusing. If something is handmade from scratch, it should definitely cost more than something that's altered... at least that's my opinion. For example, I make journals... and the ones I purchased and altered them I sell for $8, while the price of the one that's handmade from scratch is $20. So, I think you can charge that $12 difference. And make sure to put in the description that the box was hand crafted :)

it should be fine. just give the details of the type of wood on each one. some people care for a higher quality and some want a cheaper price. it gives your shop more variety, which will only help you.

Maybe you could create a upscale line of boxes using the handcrafted items??? just a thought ;)

Thanks for the feedback,. I feel better now about having two "levels" of quality to my shop. Can't wait to get started on some new ones.
