Twitter

So I just signed up for a twitter account @GnomeKnows. I have been resisting it because I am afraid it might be complicate my life with to much technology but I also want folks who like my stuff have the opportunity to view it quickly. How many of you have found Twitter to be helpful to marketing your art and etsy shop?

Re: Twitter

I just joined twitter last week and to be honest, I don't get it. haha Everyone keeps telling me 27 years old is still young but I sure feel old when I can't figure out all the symbols and acronyms! On the other hand though, I have already picked up a few random followers, most likely from Etsy, but I never found that type of fellowship from my fb page!

my twitter is @nikkipoparts if you wanna swap follows?!

Re: Twitter

Twitter is an AMAZING platform to promote. Here's a deal, take a thirty day challenge! Post EVERYTHING!
Cooking dinner.
Sewing hats.
Taking the kids tot he park.
Opinions on topics.

ETC ETC ETC. Twitter is ABOUT cheesy conversation.

Brann :)

Re: Twitter

Gaining followers. People unfollow you if your just like "HERE'S MY STUFF-BUY BUY BUY!!" I mean, it's a good balance. You just gotta find yours.

Re: Twitter

I am 28, and too felt I just didn't "get" Twitter. Signed up this week, and so far haven't posted much, nor have any followers. I think it is a great form of free marketing though that should be utilized.

Mine is @roguebaby19 (I think!)

Re: Twitter

I have a twitter acount for my shop though rarely use it other than having it linked up to my facebook page so when I post something there it gets tweeted. And if I tweet a link to my shop or a listing I usually get about a half dozen views per tweet...

Re: Twitter

As for being old- I am double most of you at 48 but apparently it is a great marketing tool. Brandon I appreciate the advice regarding personal and professional. That is helpful.

Re: Twitter

I'm with Brandon on mixing personal tweets with business. I interact with a few Etsy sellers and believe it or not, most of the messages are about non-Etsy stuff. I'll unfollow a seller in a heartbeat if all they do is spam me with their shop links. Keep it personal, like you would if you were talking to someone face to face. You wouldn't be shoving your items under their noses (at least I hope not!). You make small talk and engage them.

Re: Twitter

Ithink it's good to mix general chit chat, with things you've found and some of your own products. It's all about engaging and helping people get to know you :)
