Twitter advice

So, I know I'm the last person on the planet, but I finally signed up for twitter. I had actually done it before, years ago, for personal use, but I never got it. I did facebook and twitter at the same time and just went with facebook. Now, I am determined to make this work for me and my business. Does anyone have pointers on getting started? I have a whopping total of 2 followers.
Also, do you tweet everything that you list in your shop? I know that I worry about flooding my fb fans with post after post after post of new listings, but twitter seems different.

Thanks for any help. :)

Re: Twitter advice

My FB page posts feed to twitter so if I post a new listing on FB, it goes on Twitter as well. Lately I've only been listing a few times a week so I don't worry about spamming my followers. If I was listing 10 items a day I would not post every single one to Twitter. I've unfollowed shops that do nothing but post links to their listings.

Re: Twitter advice

I'm thinking the same thing, Judy. I don't post every listing, as I try to post one new purse a day, but it doesn't seem abnormal for someone to tweet several times a day.
I'll have to look into linking them. Thanks :)

Re: Twitter advice

i would try not to tweet about your listings too much but you can make it fun too. instead of keeping the text that Etsy automatically inputs for you change it up a bit or make it vague to encourage clicks.

i would recommend following other people and responding to their tweets, re-tweeting things you find interesting and just let your customers get to know who you are!

the followers will come if they see that you are not just interested in promoting your shop but yourself :)
