Treasuries That Get Noticed

I've been wondering about this for quite some time - how do some people get a ton of traffic to the treasuries they create? If anyone can shed any light on the subject, or pass on tips for getting a person's treasury noticed, I would sure appreciate it.

I joined a few treasury teams and that has helped with views, but lately I haven't really had time to do any treasuries or promote them in the teams. It does take time, as usually you have to comment on ten treasuries, or whatever the rule is for that team. That is one way I know of.

Diffently increase the amount of circles your in.More people see it when it's posted.
My treasuries don't have a ton a traffic but it brings new people to my circle/shop.

Join a treasury building team or two. Post the link in your teams treasury thread...
Team mates view, click, comment and favorite
Share your Treasuries on your FB Fan Page & your twitter.
Convo the people in the treasury that they are in the treasury.
If they favorite it...then people in their circle can see it.
People in the Treasury share it on ther FB fan Page and twitter.
and then it just sort of spiderwebs out.....
Until you have a ton of views.

Treasury teams and promotion are the biggest ways that I know of. There are usually team challenges that encourage members to view, comment, and share in a kind of mutual appreciation. Etsy Treasury Hunter and Etsy Punks are two teams I'm a part of - when I have a chance to post links and comment on others, I tend to get a high return. Promoting your treasuries on FB, Twitter, blogs, etc. is another way to get noticed, but like Fabric Vineyard said, it's a bit of a time commitment.

And lastly, sometimes just having the right name/theme can do the trick. A treasury I did on "honey badgers" was inexplicably popular, even though I did very little promo. One of the great mysteries... Good luck!

I think it's all about participation. I've been in treasuries where nobody featured seems to be interested in spreading the word on Twitter, facebook, or even just ♥ing the treasury so that people in their circle can go take a peek, too. UNfortunate :(

Me too JustForGoggles....it is unfortunate.
It takes like 20-30 minutes to create a treasury. It is always nice when the people featured take the time to at least say Thank you.
I have some treasuries that get like 40 views and then I have some that go crazy! I had one go from 30 views to 600 in like a minute in a half and I have no idea why.

20 or 30 minutes to create a treasury? For me it takes hours. I have only made two so far because they take so much time. I loved making them. I guess my perfectionism has its downside.

I did convo those I featured. And my first treasury made it to page 75 of the treasuries lists (LOL...I really did check out each page). I did not check to see where my second treasury was.

PaperandBooks, I'm with you. The first treasury I made took me about four or five hours and was a real pain in the booty to get it figured out. I made a few more but I think sometimes you really need inspiration and time. I really wanted to do a good job and be proud of the group I put together. But I never thought of convos to the featured artists, just to spread the word Since I'm not trying to make sales I guess I didn't care If they gave me hearts or promotion. For me it's more about ceating in a different kind of way.

Another trick, is to use at least a few people in your treasury that have large circles. If they like it, then their entire circle are potential viewers.

One way to speed up the making of treasuries is to favorite lots of things you like that are well photographed. Then you can go shopping for images in your own favorites. It's much easier now that favorites are searchable.

I used to think that treasuries got on the front page from getting a lot of views, but really, it's the other way around! Treasuries randomly get picked to go on the front page!

All my treasuries only have like 20 views, except one that went on the front page, which got 300+ views! I think Etsy's computer system picked it out.

Honestly, treasury promotion teams are a waste of time for me. You can spend forever leaving comments, but those views and comments are NOT equal to random views and comments from actual, potential buyers!

Yes, views from circles and people who favorite you do matter and do increase exposure. But at the end of the day, will you buy from me just because I favorited your treasury and left a nice comment?

Hours? Wow!

It usually takes me 10 minutes. The slowest part is waiting for the Internet to load the page. Sometimes I'll take 20 minutes to pick out the very best items, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'll get more views. My treasury that made it to the front page only took me 10 minutes to make. It went on the FP a few days later, and I had already forgotten that I had made it.

I personally would not spend more than 20 minutes one one treasury. I'd rather spend time editing my listings and creating new items. More time on treasuries does not equal more views! Trust me, I've made dozens of them.

One trick for fast treasuries: I usually add a lot of items to my favorites because, well, there's so much on Etsy that I love! When I make a treasury, I pick out a theme (let's say flowers), and just search in my favorites for "flowers." That way, all my results are already things that I love! I just pick out ones that work together the best (like pink flowers or or bright flowers).

Etsy has live people who pick the front page treasuries. It's not a computer. They follow the merchandising report put out each month to pick treasuries. The report has themes they plan on using throughout the month.

I want to thank everyone for their advice. I created a treasury this morning and it already has gotten 3 times as much traffic as mine normally do. The main thing that I think helped was sending a convo to each person featured in the treasury and asking them to promote the treasury as well. Thanks again!

making sure if you are featured in a treasury to heart everyone else in the treasury is a way I have found to spread the word well.

Do all of you send convos to the sellers featured in your treasury? I read a thread where some people didn't like getting convoed for that.

I finally got brave and completed my first treasury called Eyes Looking at You Too. I had so much fun doing it.

treasury teams. but they require to much work for me. like 3 treasuries a day and you have to comment on everyone else treasury too.
