Thursday Fun: How do you unwind when you're offline?

Hi Everyone!
I’m back for some more Thursday Fun. Today’s question is all about unplugging from the many devices that we use every day.
How do you unwind when you’re offline?
I hope your answers will provide all of us some extra motivation to take a few minutes to disconnect this weekend.
For me, I love taking really long walks. People who live in New York tend to spend a lot of time underground on the Subway, but this is a city for walking. You can cover a lot of ground by walking just a few miles. I always find a restaurant I’d like to try, spot some cool architecture, or generally notice something I hadn’t before. It’s refreshing to slow down and see the city I’m always rushing through in a new way.

I love going out and exploring Albuquerque. There are awesome farmer's markets here on the weekends, hiking trails in the mountains or out at the volcanoes (no, they're not extinct - just sleeping. But for a really really long time, so that's a comfort), or just poking through the hundreds of art galleries, searching for inspiration.

I'm a bit of a bibliophile, so when I unwind, I usually can be found with my nose in a book, while my cat tries to bat it out of my hands. I also really enjoy needle felting and knitting (which is why I sell the items I make), and so I often combine both passions by listening to audiobooks while knitting or needle felting. Add a cup of tea and some chocolate, and you have my idea of a wonderful, relaxing afternoon!

I enjoy being around my friends and family to unwind and relax. I often have meals with friends or catch up over a cup of tea. Nice way to make sure you don't keep checking your phone or laptop and have some time off!

Re: Thursday Fun: How do you unwind when you're offline?
Such a wonderful question! I love doing yoga; the stretching, twisting, centering and deep breathing help to release stress. I also love guided meditation, I have a CD that always lulls me to sleep, usually in a few minutes or less! For a deep unwind I LOVE to go Hiking in the mountains on an unfamiliar tree lined trail, for me that's pure heaven !!!

We moved up north last year and have found many amazing beaches within 10 minutes from our house......it's hard to check your phone/iPad/computer when you are out swimming with your son! :)

Reading, cooking, hanging with my boys and new baby girl, cooking, sketching out new ideas for jewelry, cooking.
We like to eat, in case you hadn't noticed. In the pot now - day old shrimp and andouille gumbo. NOM!

Unwind...ha! Mom of a 2yr old here. ;)
Ok, in all seriousness, I'm a reader. I love to read. I also like to catch up on DVR'd shows with my husband. We really like stuff like Deadliest Catch and Mountain Men and stuff on Food and HGTV. :)

Sitting outside on a picnic blanket by the water really helps me to unwind - just taking a deep breath, closing my eyes, feeling the breeze, and listening to my surroundings. Curling up on the couch with a book and my cats is another good option!

I always need shells for my shop so shelling on the beach is one way I unwind. The other is a quiet sail on our sailboat . . . drifting peacefully up the river with just wildlife everywhere around us . . .
Oh, but I agree with Julie Taylor above, that Mountain Men is a fun way to unwind if I am going to sit in front of the TV!!

I love to swim at my local open air pool, I get in the zone and let ideas waft over me and worries float away. Or river swimming with my boys and laughing til my face aches.

My biggest passion besides painting is reading ,so for me sitting on my small porch surrounded by my little herb garden (one of my inspiration source) a cup of coffee and good book it the best way to relax

Gardening is always a stress reliever. I also might head to the sewing machine to do some piece work or quilting if the weather doesn't permit going outdoors.

Re: Thursday Fun: How do you unwind when you're offline?
I love to do yoga to unwind. To completely unplug and re-ground is so soothing and rejuvenating, and oftentimes inspiring. I find that when I can get my mind off of the computer, it makes so much mental space for new ideas to germinate.
I also LOVE to go get a manicure and pedicure! Sometimes doing nothing, and having somethings done for you is the ticket to relaxation!

I love to walk in the woods. It helps me to clear my mind and centre myself. When I get home, I always feel rejuvenated, more focused, and less stressed.

Re: Thursday Fun: How do you unwind when you're offline?
I do tend to get stressed a lot at the moment but going thru a big move will do that, lol :)
So, for me going for a peaceful walk along the river watching the sunlight reflecting and sparkling usually calms me :)
Also, watching easy movies in the evening helps take my mind off biz stuff. And being a Brit, I love my cuppa tea too (with milk, of course, lol :)
A glass of wine and good company at the dinner table is great too :)
Cheers, T. :)

Re: Thursday Fun: How do you unwind when you're offline?
I love to head to my garden and pick veggies, pull weeds and enjoy the day but the most relaxing is to jump on my ATV 4 wheeler and head to our pasture and just ride around and enjoy nature and the beautiful prairies in Kansas. Always refreshes me!

Re: Thursday Fun: How do you unwind when you're offline?
We walk in our gardens, taking 10 or 15 minute breaks several times during the day.
This is not as relaxing as it used to be, due to the severe, ongoing drought in So. Cal.
It does help us to notice the plants in the most stress and give them some extra mulch or if it is one of the allowed watering days, a drink of water.
We fill the bird and bee baths, as these creatures are also in search of water and sometimes we need to clean and refill them twice a day.
