Thank you Pinterest ~

I get a lot of views from Pinterest which is great! I have never really been able to figure out a good way to tell where my items have been pinned. Does anyone know?

I believe you can try to pin them from the listings on Etsy and it will shows something like "thiis is also pinned in ..." And you will be able to see those boards.

Hi Kristi, your shop is beautiful.
Can you tell us a little bit more about how you worked with pinterest to get pinned ?

Re: Thank you Pinterest ~

I just opened a Pinterest account and don't know how to use it. I'd love to hear any ideas on how others are using it.

I think if you just click on the pin, you can see what other boards it has been pinned on. Sometimes I research my wreaths on pinterest to see what pinners are pinning in the same board as my wreath, and see what the buyers want.

Evane - I have a pinterest account, and just pin my wreaths to a board that is labeled "Wreaths I make" and they all link back to my etsy shop.

Re: Thank you Pinterest ~

Hi, All -
I'm mostly baffled by Pinterest too. I have a Business Page and it seems it gave me an option of "Cool Stuff to Buy" - every time I send a new listing to Pinterest, it goes there but, perhaps, I need to create a new, 'specific' board like Tamra has done.
Hopefully, that will help with visibility - otherwise, I feel like I'm lost over there.
Pam

Thanks Tamra, the point I assume is to develop followers on pinterest to make sure it is seen. Do you have a particular strategy to do so ?

Re: Thank you Pinterest ~

I am by no means a Pinterest expert, but I will tell you how it's worked for me.

I have several Pinterest boards with my interests, collections and inspirations. I also have a few that are related to my Etsy shop (a sampling of what I offer, Etsy treasuries I've been featured in or created and items I love from other Etsy shops).

I try to give people a sense of what I'm all about while subtly promoting my shop. I'm not entirely certain I use it to its full advantage, but I definitely get a lot of traffic from Pinterest and I'm fairly certain it has driven several sales.

The shop pins lead people directly to my shop and there is a link at the top of the main page to my shop also. Take a peek: http://www.pinterest.com/neatokeenetsy/

Hope that helps a little...it's fun, too!

Re: Thank you Pinterest ~

I use Pinterest for a number of things - and really love it. I started with it when I created a vision board for myself as a way to document progress and keep internet related articles, pictures, products.

I am in no way a Pinterest professional, but if you want to check out my site, feel free. http://www.pinterest.com/donnad1101/

I use Pinterest now for these things:
- to document vision board items - Pinterest lets you upload pictures and documents too so it's a good repository
- to promote my shop - a large percentage of my off-etsy views come from pinterest
- to promote other etsy sellers
- to keep track of recipes I want to try
- and of course to pin other items I love to various boards

It's pretty easy to use.

If you're interested in more information about using it for your business, I've found this to be helpful: http://www.ohsopinteresting.com/

Re: Thank you Pinterest ~

Thanks for the feedback everybody :). Honestly I think that the reason I get a lot of hits from pinterest is because of my pictures. I do have a pinterest account with very few followers and most things I pin don't get repinned by anyone ;). I think what happens is that people pin my photos from my Etsy shop and because a lot of my photos have been pinned I get a lot of hits from pinterest.

Based on my experience the best ways to get pinned are to have appealing photos. As far as how to build up your own pinterest page that is a mystery to me!

Because I know that none of my work on pinterest has lead to this I am always looking for ways to see how and where I have been pinned. Thanks for the ideas - I guess I just wish there was an easier/foolproof way to find it :)

Re: Thank you Pinterest ~

On a side note to this conversation - what is your average views from Pinterest? In January so far I have had 381 views from Pinterest and if I average the last 6 months it is about 300 views per month from Pinterest.

If you go to Pinterest, you can search for a term and see what comes up. Usually when someone pins something from etsy it auto fills in your shop name. Try searching that and see what comes up, you might find the magic pin there :)

Re: Thank you Pinterest ~

@Kristi That's a lot of views from Pinterest! I average about 250/month. I would bet that Pinterest is a big draw for you because your gorgeous photos are very "pin-worthy"!

If I were you, I would focus on creating "occasion" boards that revolve around your garlands…bridal showers, baby showers, weddings, nursery room decor, kid's birthday parties etc. Each board should have a couple of your garlands incorporated into them.

I think your business will skyrocket! I wish you the best :)

@neattokeen What a great idea! I love your shop :) I have a personal pinterest and I am wondering if people have pinterest just for their business or mix it up in their personal account?

Re: Thank you Pinterest ~

In 10 months I have had 5 views from pinterest, and 2 were from today, lol. I would like to know how to get more followers.

Unfortunately I've heard that a lot of DIYers pin things so they can make it themselves. In fact one of my items got repinned to a board called "Things to try and make". So I'm curious how many people actually get sales from pinterest.
