Thank Customers for their purchase

Hi fellow Etsians,

I thank all my customers for buying in my shop with a coupon for a 20% discount. I have had some buyers who return with this coupon, so that's great.

But now I have some buyers who are making their 3rd purchase. Of course I am super happy, but I would like to thank them. But giving another coupon... I don't know.

Do you thank/reward your buyers?

I usually thank buyers by including something along with their order... usually it's a single gift tag that I usually sell in sets... but for larger orders I've included a whole set or two of gift tags or an ornament. I don't like to do sales or percentages off because I feel like I am already charging a reasonable price... but that's just my opinion. Although I haven't given any percentages off about 1/3 of my customers are repeat buyers... some of them 3 or 4 times. Hope that helps

I give a 10% off code and a very small freebie. I think that's a good question about customers who keep on coming back. You could say if they place 5 orders they get something free? Kinda like a loyalty scheme?

It's a toughie! Will be interested to see other's ideas!

I give a 10% coupon. I wouldn't give them another coupon after already taking off a 20%, I mean that is a lot already! When I first read I though you were going to say that you realized that was too much and didn't expect to have so many return customers or something like that.

I might just add in a hand written "Thank you for your loyalty" note, maybe add in a freebie. But you don't need to reward a customer every time they are loyal. They like your stuff and that's great!

We always send a Thank you email after each and every purchase informing them of when they should expect to receive their item and if they have any questions to contact us, however we don't provide a discount coupon code - to be honest we couldn't afford to do it all the time and some of our items we don't make that much on.
However we do email repeat customers when we are having a sale and offer them a larger discount than what we offer new customers and the general public, as our way of saying Thanks for their repeat purchases.

But it has to work for each seller individually obviously what you are doing is working for you, maybe try a Free Gift with the already existing discount. We provide free shipping for items priced over $100 and free insurance for items over $200 and often we supply a small free gift as well for orders totaling to $100 as a way to say Thanks without 'losing' money as such.

Oh, I just realized that you might be giving a special coupon that you only let your buyers use once. My 10% coupon is the same thing for everyone and doesn't expire or anything. So every time a customer returns they get 10% off. But it isn't really that much off and is already built into the price, So it doesn't really matter.

I have all my prices set a little bit higher 1) to make most of the hit end in the usual .99 cent fashion & 2) to cover expenses that can't be added into the price. office supplies & the like.

thanks for the great tips. I actually didn't realize that 20% is a lot. I have switched to 10% coupon codes :)

I loved the idea of thanking them for their purchase trough an e-mail. I have been getting a lot of good responses; I have met brooch-collectors and so on. It's great! Still not sure wheter to e-mail or convo them.... Sometimes I convo sometimes I e-mail.

Also a nice tip to e-mail repeat customers for a special sale! I will definitly try that during holidays. Maybe easter discount.

I think a coupon is still a viable solution. I also include a small mini card with every purchase. For my largest sales, loyal customers (3 or more purchases), first customer, etc. I sent something special at Christmas.
