Taking the plunge... shipping to Australia

Ok, so after thinking about this a lot... I think I am going to offer shipping to Australia. I have offered shipping to Canada, but have never gotten a Canadian order.

Has anyone seen a bump in sales with shipping down under?

My very second sale went to Australia! I figure that made me International!

Anyway, just know that if you send anything insured or tracked, that it is Registered Mail and will cost a lot more than just normal International shipping. Do good research on that! I had to eat all my profits on that order because I DIDN'T.

Most of my international sales are to Australia, Canada is second.

PS - I've gotten a lot better at the USPS website. Just don't forget that International rates went through the roof January 27th. Be sure you have current information.

I just opened up my shop less then a month ago and a few days ago I had my first sale, it was to Australia. I was shocked to find out how much shipping cost to ship there, so needless to say I had under estimated the shipping. But I got my first sale!!

Thank you everyone. I just looked at all of your shipping and it seems as though I am not charging enough for Canadian shipping. Good think I haven't had any Canadian sales. :)

Most of my international orders also come from Australia! They are also such a pleasure to work with. I need to adjust my rates though because shipping their is pretty expensive and I am currently under charging a bit...

Hi,
I don't "add" shipping overseas in my listings - my items are too varied in weight to do that. But I do say in each listing "overseas shipping- contact me"
I have had quite a few sales to Australia in the past - but with the increased postal rates, that may not happen - just lost one yesterday to Australia.

I recommend it - never had a problem with delivery.

ETA - for anyone who does not know this, you can calculate your postage anywhere in the world by going to usps.calc - I love it!

I've had a few sales to Australia in both my shops. I used to have my shipping profiles set up for Canada, Australia and UK. After I added "everywhere else" I got two sales in a row from Switzerland. Same item too, which I thought was interesting! I haven't had an international sale since the rates went up. It's only been about 10 days so it's really too soon to judge if that's the reason.

YES!!!! I'd say a rough 10% of my sales are from Australia!!!!

International shipping is a great accomplishment!

We just started offering shipping to Australia, too. About 35% of our traffic comes from there, so it just made sense. :)

Thanks again everyone. Well, I just edited all of my pendant listings. I suppose I'll know for certain ifI am charging too little when I get an international sale.

Maybe I'll do 'everywhere else' next.
