Tag Question: What is wrong with my tags?

Please, let me know what is wrong with my items/tags/product names.

The thing is, when the default search by relevancy was set some time ago, my items were among those on the first pages of search under the tag "shawl pin", now (or rather, a year ago) they have disappeared from the first 20 pages or so. I studied carefully the tags used by the sellers whose items do appear at that search, they are quite similar with mine.
As I tried to apply the most used tags to my new listings, I can see the result - my NEWLY LISTED items stay among the top items (like 1-10th pages), then they totally disappear, found only on pages after 20th. Other sellers' items stay as they were! Plus thers appear like on every or every other page among the first pages. I thoroughly doubt they renew their items in that amount so often!

That's totally frustrating, for me that tag 'shawl pin' was very important, it brought me most sales. Plus I have quite a number of such items, so what is wrong?

P.S. other related searches, such as fibula, copper shawl pin or copper brooch show my items in the first pages of search.

Well, to start you might want to make sure they are spelled correctly in the first place. In this listing alone:

you have two misspelled:
textile bracelrt
gypsy bra elet

Re: Tag Question: What is wrong with my tags?

I think your tags are pretty good, but a general term like "shawl pin" has a lot of competition (over 7000 items came up). However, when I searched "copper shawl pin", one of yours was on page 1.
You may wish to include a descriptive keyword in front of your "shawl pin" title, such as rustic shawl pin, fancy shawl pin, like some of your other ones. Also, "made to order" can go further down the title, rather than right at the front. The first few keywords are the most important for search.
Good luck with sales!

Re: Tag Question: What is wrong with my tags?

Use multi-word tags over single word every time. This helps you be relevant for more specific searches where you'll be competing with fewer items.

For example in the item below:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/249469302/shawl-pin-sweater-pin-scarf-pin-wire?ref=shop_home_active_2

You have 'flower' as one of your tags and that isn't specific at all. Someone typing 'flower' into Etsy search could want a fake flower for their wedding or a piece of art with a flower on it, or anything. Your tags should be phrases that someone would type into Etsy search when looking for your item.

Combine some of your single word tags like "flower" and "barrette" and put them together, and then you have another tag to use! Also put "floral" and "hair pin" together, etc.

Remember that with a tag like "floral hair pin," you're relevant for searches of "floral" "hair" "pin" "floral hair" "hair pin" "floral hair pin" AND semi-relevant for "floral pin" or any other combo of the 3 words (even if used in a different order).
