Suggestions for adding upgrades?

Hey all! I have been working feverishly at updating my shop. Making sure to update all shipping profiles, policies, etc.

One thing I want to add is more upgrades. I want people to ave the option to add:

Gift wrap and a card
Rush order
Fine metal instead of zinc alloy chain

I have an upgrades section to my shop currently and have some upgrades listed in the listings. What is the best way to let customers know that upgrades are available and how to add them to their cart?

I get a lot of customer that just don't see them or they do see them and make 2 separate purchases. Any way I can help my customers?

upgrades like rushes are not etsy-legal; no listing can be dependent on a another listing.

The only way to list them as individual listings is to have things that can be made (or are supplies) and shipped individually; so for instance, you can offer a gift wrap listing, and if someone buys it and nothing else you are able to just send the gift wrap (you cannot make the listing conditional on the purchase of something else from your shop, though).

For the upgraded chain, you can just add it as a listing variation (one variation is the standard chain for your normal price, the other variation is the upgraded chain for the standard price + the upgrade).

For rushes, I don't have a great answer. We do them for free for this reason.

Maybe you can list the gift wrap & card option as a listing variation? i.e. item on its own is the displayed price & with gift wrap + card, the price increases a little bit? This would be the same thing being suggested by Matthew & Sara for your chain upgrade.

I'm not super sure about what you mean by rush order, but currently, the shipping profiles allow you to add a "shipping upgrade". i.e. you can use regular shipping which should take x number of days according to your post office (although it's never a firm number to be honest), and then offer the shipping upgrade for another mode of shipping which will include tracking or delivery confirmation... and usually be shipped a bit faster.

You could use the listing variations to add things like gift wrap and chain upgrades directly to each listing. Etsy now allows us to have shipping upgrades within the listings as well. Simply go to 'Shop Settings' and choose 'Options'. Then select offer shipping upgrades, and choose enabled.

Then, go to 'Shipping Profiles' and choose the one you want to edit. At the bottom you select the add shipping upgrades link and it will allow you to add the option to upgrade!
