Success from last year to this year?

I opened my shop end of Jan, 11 and I am about $200 away from matching that figure.
I'm pretty excited about that. How do you all measure success?

We opened shop this time last year. All of 2011, we were getting 1 to 2 sales a month. SInce March of this year, we have been selling 3-9 items a month. Its not a huge amount but it is definitely progress, which I relate to as success! Or at least on the road to success.

Last summer we had a couple of sales. This summer has been much better. Measuring success.

Goal for now is one item per week. Which it is averaging out to be. So I figured this summer would be slow - plenty of time to prep and work towards Holiday 2012. Shipping and keeping stock up has taken priority - which is great :) Bonus!

Alternate question, when do you increase ads, etc for Holiday 12? On Black Friday or before?

It may be too hot to consider this right now - lol.

I am about 10 months in and am making twice what i make with my day job- SUCCESS.
Next goal- stay consistent with sales and keep growing my brand so that I can quit that pesky day job ;)

Kristin: I start my holiday ads about a week after Halloween, that's when, in my experience, people start the gift search in ernest.

I've been open since Feb. 2010. My first two years where almost identical money wise but I had almost 20 sales more in 2011 than 2010. So far this year, I've made $400 more than last with just 4 sales less!!

My New Years resolution was to double my business and I think I might actually do it!!

we've found a better niche market this year so I think it will be much better. Last year we were finding the groove.

Hey Starlightwoods, you have done so well!! I just looked at your shop....so many admirers and so many sales for such a short time, major congrats.
You have really cool stuff. How did you get so many admirers and so many sales as far as reaching out to get noticed?

It's great to hear that someone can actually do this full time, as their main career.

I am just a couple 100 dollars short of what I made in 2011. My goal is to double what I made last year. I think it will be totally doable. :)
