Stamping your own fabrics?

Hi there!

I thought maybe some of you could have recommandations for me...

I started the make hand carved rubber stamps because I'd like to stamp my own fabrics to make my baby & kids items... Any of you can recommend a specific brand of ink pad that works great on fabric? that doesn't fade...and that is kid-friendly?!?!

That's a lot to ask, I know! Haha! ;)

I've read that Versa Craft was apparently a great brand for fabric stamping...
I just did a test with some Color Box ink pad...I heat sealed the ink before washing it...One of the 2 colors washed of (it was pigment ink) but the other one stayed intact after wash (this one was fluid chalk ink)

I don't know about ink with kids items. You'd have to check and see if they've been tested for lead content and that sort of thing.

Have you considered maybe stamping a piece, scanning it into your computer, and then having it printed with Spoonflower? It would get you the look you're going for, but be a lot more durable.

True. And I know that any screen printing ink or inks that "do not become part of the paper" are NOT exempt from CPSIA testing. And I don't know if Spoonflower complies with the CPSIA laws or not, since there process is not geared directly towards children.

I just saw that you're Canada. I don't know what the laws are like over there, but if you aren't selling them to US customers then you may not have to worry about CPSIA laws.
