Solution to additional shipping charge

I have a client who purchased a tote, paid the shipping to Australia. She then contacted me to have me upgrade the shipping to air. I created a new listing for her with $1 in the amount of the item, then the $54 in the shipping cost to Australia. She was unable to get Etsy to even take the CC. I then created a custom request listing for her. Now she is able to advance all the way to putting in her CC number, but then can not finalize the order.

I don't know what I am doing wrong - or how to change it. I have checked all of my settings to be sure nothing has changed. I have shipped out of the country in the past and Etsy accepted her sale the first time with the ground shipping amount.

Time is of the essence if anyone has a solution, thank you

Re: Solution to additional shipping charge

I think just having the cost of the listing be $54 with shipping as zero should fix the problem, right?

Eta: is this Etsy legal? I don't know.

Can you just invoice the customer through Paypal? Having the listing at $54 and shipping $0 means the seller would have to pay etsy a bigger fee.

Re: Solution to additional shipping charge

I would simply send the customer a paypal invoice for the shipping charges and be done with it.

By the way, all packages from the USA to Australia go by air now.
