Sold out items

How do you deal with items that you sell out of through special order listing? I don't want to inactivate the original listing because then people won't be able to view them at all and I will be back in stock in a few weeks. But if I do an Etsy sell for them I'll be charged twice, once for the etsy sell now and once for the special order. Has anyone else dealt with this?

I edit the listing to change it into the special order. There's no way to get around paying the listing fee. If it's sold out, it's sold out. You can deactivate a listing to hold it until it is back in stock. If you reactivate it before it expires there's no fee to activate it again.
