Soap pricing

My first batch of soap is ready for sale and I was wondering how to price it! I was thinking of doing to by weight! As in I would put the price based on how many Grams or Oz it was, since my bars all all different weights it wouldn't feel right selling them all the same price per bar when one weighs less then the others!

I don't so people doing this on Etsy much and I was wondering if it is a bad idea or if I should try to come up with something else!

Doing it this way would make my prices odd numbers like $2.79 or something like that!

I just want to be fair!

Re: Soap pricing

Hey!

I don't think you should individually price unless your soaps are wildly different in weights. Mine vary slightly but not so you'd notice and its not going to make much difference in terms of how long it will last.

You can always put a note on the description that weights may vary slightly as its handmade or give a range that soaps may be.

I have never had a problem with it, people seem to be happy with my pricing and sizes.

Its quite nice at craft fairs to tell people that they vary slightly so you can help hunt out the biggest one with them!

I've found people want a unique quality item and won't get upset about a couple of grams.

Good luck with soaping!!

Re: Soap pricing

I agree, if your soaps aren't "wildly different" in weight then I wouldn't go with different pricing, it would be confusing. Do you have a soap cutter? My dad made me one and I know you can buy them, then all your bars are pretty much the same uniform weight.
