So lost in the background.....

Hi team,

Im a new seller and scaried out of my mind of failing
I am just having a tough time finding a spot to fit in... I make contemporary pinatas and the first thing I know I need to change is my pictures asap if I want to get noticed, but I was just wondering if i could get some suggestions on if white
Or street/hanging/outdoor backgrounds would work better?

And which style do you like seeing in shops or your own shop?

I would use white. It seems to be the goal for most sellers. The outdoor backgrounds and nice, but can be very tricky to accomplish. They tend to be very distracting and cause the items to be lost. That's why I find white easiest. I use a white background (large plywood painted white), then edit with fotofuze.com, which is free and easy.
good luck!

White is super popular on etsy, you'll get in more treasuries and featured on more blogs. But you can still have fun with a white background, just be creative. You do have five photo slots so I would definitely include some 'in use' type photos if you can. There are quite a few articles on etsy and other handmade blogs about taking and editing great photos. I would read some of those. Love your penis pinata! Cracked me up.

I always love to see the item being used as a better choice than the white plain background... also adding more items with help get people in and looking at your shop. If you want to go with a flat background try out some other colors options and see which work out well ... Pinatas always make me think of PARTY and bright colors, so that may be a better option for you!

As a good Mexican I had hit more pinatas that I can remember ... but never one as original as yours! While a white background might work well, I would also suggets you place some candy outside of the pinata to see better the scale. Good luck!

Re: So lost in the background.....

Thank you so much everyone ..... You all are great, I really like the pop of color idea for a couple pictures and the white for the main images.

I will get on that this weekend
Thanks again

Re: So lost in the background.....

You just opened your shop, so give it some time. Add as much as you can and you will be found. As everyone has said most people are in favor of white background for their products, but honestly do what you think looks best and what gives your store the general feel you are going for. I think hanging them outside if you can find a nice spot without any background distractions will look great for one of the photos you use on the listing. Also as Enguin noted, add some candy or treats that go inside to show the scale of your pinatas. You do have the dimensions but shopping online is much more of a visual experience. You don't want people to have to think too hard.
