So I know my shop needs some work?

I can't quite place my finger on all the things that give me an off vibe about my shop.
Ive always been very self critical and indecisive so getting a second and third and fourth and so forth opinion is necessary for me.

I know that some of my pictures aren't great, but what else?

any advice and constructive criticism is welcome!

Thank you in advance!

Em.

Re: So I know my shop needs some work?

Hi Emily,
I like your bags but as you say, there is room for improvement in your pics. Apart from the obvious (those that were shot against the ruled backgrouns are very yellow and it's difficult to focus on the bags themselves), I would iron the bags or fill them with something, paper of an insert to give them a plump aspect.

As a buyer, I also would like to know more about how you make them. Tell a little story, make it personal, that's how you create a relationship with the customers.

Good luck,

Anne

your bags are wonderfully vibrant, they need to speak for themselves. much prefer them against the dark backgrounds where they pop out at you

Your bags are lovely but I think they have gotten lost in your background choices. I might suggest you play around a bit with different solid backdrops, then before uploading photos, be sure to correct any lighting, color balance and contrast issues. It is worth the time. Good luck!!!

Re: So I know my shop needs some work?

I really like the style of this photo:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/85840537/fun-and-retro-orange-pursemessenger

It looks like a magazine ad.

The other photos - where you took it inside with thread spools. ( http://www.etsy.com/listing/89805156/black-and-white-doily-print-cosmetic ) The color seems a bit off.

This is a great photo as well but see if you can lighten the white paper - to white - http://img3.etsystatic.com/il_fullxfull.288885959.jpg

I edit my photos with microsoft office picture manager - and there is an option to correct colors - you select the area that you want to be white - and it recolorizes your photo and really makes whites pop and all the other colors look true to life.

Re: So I know my shop needs some work?

I suggest including measurements of your bags, in both metric and imperial units.

I'm with Sara - I love this photo, and it looks like it'll end up on the front page someday

but I don't think these types of photos showcase your bags as well:

Re: So I know my shop needs some work?

your photos that are outside and show the bags "in use" are fabulous and the style of your model is chic. those are incredibly eye catching. the rest of the photos that are indoor look a little yellow tinted. I would use Natural light in EVERY photo to keep it consistent. Your bags are seriously cute and are kinda my style. I think fixing the photos will be a gigantic help and improvement for you in sales. I would also try to match your banner to your store. Like have an outdoor shot with your bag on a step, on the ground, or something crisp and natural to match your avatar. you are totally on the right track! I also agree with the above comment that you NEED to list the measurements, that's what I always look for when buying bags and their durability. Hope that helps!
