So...I have an Idea...

And I've been trying to get the word out to local crafters/artisans. I've posted in the appropriate Teams, but I feel that those Teams are not as active as say, Etsy Success. I personally find myself checking them about once or twice a month.

Short of contacting shops individually (which I believe is a no-no?), how else can I get the word out?

Ugh.

I'm thinking of starting up a Facebook Page.

Don't know about your area, but I know here in Richmond there seems to be a pretty lively local craft community. Almost every shop or cafe I walk into has a bulletin board for folks to post coming events and other community stuff.

Maybe you could make up some flyers to address your crafting community directly? You might also try something like Meetup.com to try to set something up with like minded crafters in your area.

I'm very curious to know that this is all about though!

Haha! I sparked some curiosity huh? :) Well, it certainly isn't exclusive to the area that I live in, but I thought with all the "Direct Sales" rage...why not make it work for Handmade, too?

I'm trying to find other local shops who would be interested in doing Local Handmade Parties; similar premise to direct sales only there are no gimicky things attached (and no junky stuff made in China!). Basically, we'd have a Hostess who provides us with a list of things she and her guests would be interested in and I will coordinate up to 5 shops to be featured at her party. If we have enough shops, I will rotate so everyone has fair exposure.

So, in the end...it would essentially be a Craft Fair at your home.

How's that sound for a "new" idea? :)

Thanks Rachel! I've asked around within other teams and they all have done a variation of this in one way or another. I'd love to make this an "official" thing that all shops everywhere can do! Let's do it!!! :D
