I haven't had any sales from it yet. The thought of them not transferring the money to my account immediately doesn't bother me and whatever tiny amount of interest they are earning on my little bit for 3-5 days can't possibly be enough to make a difference to me (i mean, we all know what kind of interest banks pay these days). The only thing that bothers me is that if I have a problem, there its no one to call. Yes, I know I can convo someone, but when it comes to my bank account I would rather talk than text.
I Agree with most of you, I'm not too happy that they take so long to actually make my money available, but in the other hand it has helped me increase my sales, I still keep pay pal for those customers who prefer it.
I made a sales cancellation recently, it was easy and I did get transaction fees back into my account;
I had no problem deducting a 20% restocking fee on a return, and I did get part of my transaction fees back;
It makes me ship faster to get paid, so I don't have a problem with that either because my work does not pile up:)
I personally feel that by giving my customers two options to pay has given my shop more atracted to buy from.
I have been happy with DC...and my last three sales have used it. So far, so good for me getting paid through etsy after I've shipped. In my opinion...it's a great thing.
I have had it for awhile - no problems to speak of. It is annoying to have to copy and paste addresses to paypal but just a minor annoyance, and I hear that they are rolling out shipping for DC.
I also have trouble keeping the etsy payments to me properly separated since they are going to my personal bank account but - that could be an easy fix if I had a business account!
now that customers have two big payment options (as most don't send checks, m.o.'s etc) i don't want them to find jewelry somewhere else that has an option that i don't. i have adopted DC as a customer service element, if anything!
i do NOT like how long it takes to get one's money. i don't like how you ship before getting paid. i don't like etsy's seeming secretiveness about the whole thing, and, as someone mentioned, no phone number attached to the service.
i just have to set up in my mind that sales made with DC are not going to pay me immediately, like a short-term savings account.
also, i am a paycheck-to-paycheck person, so DC has taught me to budget even that much tighter so i know i have cash for shipping! haha. thank god my products are cheap to ship!
so, no, i do not like DC overall, but i find it imperative to give the customer all the tools and resources available to make it 'easiest' for them.
i'm not sure, renee. i have been wondering this myself, as i do a lot of custom orders.
someone in a forum said that they set up the listing into two separate listings... one for a deposit (so you kind of fake ship) and one for the rest of the amount.
I signed up for it. I like paypal WAY better but i must say, 8 out of 10 of my last sales, people used direct check out, so they much like it a lot. I say do it. If it makes more people happy, it means more potential customers.
Still i am honestly shocked that 8 out of 10 people have used it.
ONLY ISSUE. Etsy hangs onto the money for 3 whole days. But honestly 3 days isnt THAT long for me.
I agree, sales have increased because of it. I did alot of cancelling/ reposting because people were trying to use CC but didnt know to go through paypal (even with it explained). They would click on "other" payment option. I havent had any cancel/repost since I signed up. I still like getting paypal payments because some supplies are paid for that way but I am SO happy sales have picked up because its EASIER for the cust to check out :).
