Shop Currency

Hi everyone,
I have done a search for this on the team but there isn't much info so I thought I would ask you your thoughts on it.

I live in Australia & currently have my shop currency set for USDollars. I am finding it a little bit stressful with adjusting the prices to suit the AUDollar all the time. So I am thinking of changing the shop currency to Australian dollars.

However before I do this, I just wanted to see what you think the pro's & con's would be? I personally view Etsy in Australian currency when looking to purchase something, but thought I would get more views etc if my shop is in US currency? I really don't know what I should do lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
Thanks :)

Re: Shop Currency

Hi Lisa,

I'm in the UK and my shop is set in GBP and every other shop I view comes up in GBP.

I just assumed that if your shop is set to a specific currency, for example US Dollars, everything you viewed would be in Dollars?

Therefore, if someone from the USA looks in my shop, they will see my prices in US Dollars.

Maybe my assumptions are wrong, please could someone help.

Re: Shop Currency

Hi Lisa ,
it is correct what Helen is saying. I have a shop in Belgium and my shop currency is in EUR. I also see all the other listings in EUR.
You can easily change your shop currency, it al depends what the currency is from the potential buyer.
When I switched from USD to EUR I has no negative impact on my shop at all !

Re: Shop Currency

Hi Lisa,

I am in Australia and shop prices are in Australian $ i think the main difference is that you can't accept credit card, i may be wrong there.

95% of my sales are from the US so i don't think that it matters.

Re: Shop Currency

I think you should change the currency to AUdollars. I have made maybe 6-7/40 sales international and people don't seem to care about the off prices. I say play with it for a month and see what happens. You never know if you don't try.

Re: Shop Currency

I list in USD. I use a currency converter widget on my desktop to convert the price I want to get in my own country's currency (New Zealand Dollar) to the US Dollar amount, enter that into my listing. What I see in my, and everyone else's shops is in the New Zealand Dollar.
