Shop Critique?

Hi! We opened shop (for real) about a week ago and have only had one sale (from a friend in real life). I know this is normal but I am kind of unsure what else to do to make sales happen.

We have a facebook page with 85 likes (I did a cheap facebook ad to get a few more) which I update regularly. We have almost a full page of items and are still making more, and we get a decent number of views and favorites. I also started optimizing my titles and tags to include the same phrases but that didn't seem to help much either. What could we improve upon?

Some specific things I have had trouble with:
Where to promote and how
How on earth to get people to follow you on pinterest or make pinterest helpful at all (not many of my friends have it)
How to determine a target audience, especially for my jewelry, which is pretty difficult to describe and may appeal to a variety of styles

Re: Shop Critique?

I'm no pro, still struggling myself but I would say your on to a great start and it does take time. The biggest thing is getting found so work on tags. I notice lots of jewelry sellers have neutral backgrounds to allow the items to be displayed some of your backgrounds are a little distracting and the items are so cool you wanna enhance them (I'll be back for those arrow earrings). As far as the number of items someone told me once that you should aim for at least 50. I'm still working on that. Facebook is grea,t stay active and discuss things not just related to business, I get a much better response that way.

As for target audience I struggle with this as well since my shop carries anything from shabby chic to modern decor ect. But it is also a good thing because the different tags will bring a variety of people to your shop. The earrings I faved are right up my alley and I usually search: unique earring, eclectic, even bohemian or kitsch some terms that might bring the audience your looking for. Hope this helps.

Best of luck!

Re: Shop Critique?

Thanks! That's actually really helpful. I think I was slowly starting to prefer simpler backgrounds, but especially at the beginning I was reading too much into all those comments that your photography has to be GREAT, haha.

I'll also use your tag ideas too! I really appreciate that.
