Shop Critique Please.

Hi everyone,
I've had my shop open since the end of 2014. Things are going but I know I need some fixing up to get more views and sales. Most of my sales are still from friends. I would like to get to a point where I get 3 sales a week instead of 2 a month. I've been reading here and working on seo. Give me your honest opinions.
Thank you!

Re: Shop Critique Please.

Hi Priscilla,

Great items -- the watercolors are quite lovely. Love the photography, too.

My suggestion would be to look at your tags. Most of them are one-word tags, which are not as helpful as multi-word tags. https://www.etsy.com/listing/215805775/blue-starfish-watercolor-print-5x7-8x10?ref=shop_home_feat_1

For this item you have tags like 'starfish' and 'print' and ''art'. It would be better to have one tag for 'starfish print' or even 'starfish print art'. A multi-word tag like 'starfish print art' makes you relevant for Etsy searches for 'starfish' 'print' 'art' 'starfish print' 'print art' AND 'starfish art print'. By doing all 1-word tags, you're kind of "wasting" tags. And tags are what help make you relevant in searches! You also have some repeats. For example you have 'starfish' and 'watercolor starfish' as tags. You're already relevant for starfish since it is in the multi-word tag, so you can delete the single-word and do a new word entirely.

Hope this helps! Best of luck.

Will do bee! I have multiword tags on most of my listings. I need to go through them again and find the listings I haven't fixed

Hi Priscilla,

Your artwork is lovely (in fact, I favorited a few items)! I noticed your shop sections are set up by size, but I'm thinking shoppers might like more specific descriptive shop sections like "sea life," "birds," "animals," etc. (I know these are pretty generic terms, so you might want to fancy them up a bit, but you get the idea.) That would make it easier to find what they're looking for.

Good luck!

Thank you for the favorites Sandi. I'll switch up category names and see what happens.

Re: Shop Critique Please.

Your work is so lovely!

Two quick suggestions:
1. For keywords/tags, think about *who* might buy your work and include a tag or two for them. For example, for this item: https://www.etsy.com/listing/217058156/quetzal-bird-watercolor-painting-print "bird lover gift" might be a possible tag.

2. Have you thought about offering other items with your artwork on them such as notecard sets? I hardly buy prints any more, not because I don't like them, but because my wall space is limited. However, I do buy quite a few items that have artwork on them. If you can figure out items that might work for you, it's one way to add more items to your shop without having to make any new artwork and attract a different type of buyer.

Good luck!
