Shipping with another item

How do you figure out what price to put when you put "with another item"?
I have items that weigh different amounts, so if someone decided to buy a cowl then I know that it's going to be around $15 to ship if they want another cowl then I can figure it out, but if they choose something like a ruffle scarf it's going to be cheaper cause it weighs lighter. So do you just put the price it would be of the same item?

I estimate shipping with a similar item. I usually don't sweat it if I'm off on shipping by a little. Usually it works out so I don't end up eating a lot of shipping costs.

I estimate high (for two of my heavy items) and reimburse if the shipping amount was overpaid.

When I calculate combined shipping, I'll add in the price of the item I'm selling.

For example, if an items weighs 4 oz, what will it cost to add an extra 4 oz to a package? That becomes my 'with another item' rate.

In 90% of the time, my shipping rates are spot on. The only time they are slightly off is when someone purchases two items that total over 13oz as that pushes the shipping into the Priority mail category . But its only if 2 items are purchased. If more than 2 total over 13 oz my shipping rates are fine.

So crochet gal, let me see if I am understanding what you are saying, if your item weighs 4 oz your with an another item price is the total of 8 oz?
