Shipping through PayPal

I would really like to start shipping through PayPal because it's a lot cheaper and I would love to lower my shipping prices. Could someone tell me how this is done exactly and what tools will I need to start shipping from home? I've been told to get a scale to weigh the packages but do I need a special scale or will any old kitchen scale work? Also, what types of labels will I need?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Shipping through PayPal

I just use a cheap kitchen scale. Really all you need is the scale, a printer, and your usual shipping supplies (boxes, bubble wrap, etc.). It's super easy, especially if the customer pays through Paypal. You just hit ship and put in the information about the package, since the address is already there. For orders through DC, you can go to paypal.com/shipnow and manually enter the address.

Re: Shipping through PayPal

Oh and for labels, you can just use regular printer paper as long as you tape them on well enough that it won't come off. Otherwise, they sell shipping labels everywhere. The labels themselves take up half a page.

Just remember NOT to tape over the bar code. Shipping is so much easier than it was 10 years ago!!

Re: Shipping through PayPal

I never thought to simply print the information on computer paper. I'm definitely going to give it a try. Thanks, Ariella.

Kate, thanks for the tip!

Re: Shipping through PayPal

I use a old (really old) scale. I weigh a few things and then take them to the post office to make sure it is accurate.
I just discovered that you can print labels for non-paypal transactions by using the multiple label feature, even for one label. I can't find the ship now link. But i'll keep trying.

Re: Shipping through PayPal

It really is super-duper easy and super-duper cheap! I've been doing it for about a month now, and I can't believe I went almost a year without figuring this out! I bought my scale at Wal-Mart for about $20.

Re: Shipping through PayPal

I got a slightly older version of this scale from Amazon.com : http://www.amazon.com/Weighmax-Digital-Postal-Scales-Shipping/dp/B000NP4C8S
...and I love it!

PayPal shipping is awesome! Once a payment has cleared, just go to your account and choose "print shipping label" from the correct transaction and follow the steps. I find USPS to be easiest and flat rate boxes are the BEST! If you go on USPS.com and set up a free account, you can have the Priority boxes and envelopes sent to you for free. Really easy and convenient.

After you print off your label don't forget that you can schedule pickup for your orders, that too is a free service.

When do labels thru PayPal it automatically adds delivery confirmation which provides a tracking number.

Get yourself a good tape gun, and I save packing material from things I buy as well as newspapers.

I have never purchased labels. I print onto plain white printer paper and tape the edges to the box, just be sure not to tape over the bar code, apparently this can cause a bit of trouble for the postman.

Good Luck!!

Re: Shipping through PayPal

I finally went to peel and stick labels and you can get 100 sheets of 2 to a sheet on the other 'E' site for about $10. You can either cut them in 1/2 & only print the shipping label but I like to stick the receipt half to my printed receipt that I keep. Use Avery equivalent 5126 labels.

All my items are just a few ounces including the bubble mailer & packaging. I have a small scale I got to weigh metals that measures ounces down to 2 decimal points.
