Shipping small package to Italy?

Have you had success mailing to Italy? Any issues I should be aware of?
I ask because I recently had a small package to France lost so am a bit nervous. Thanks!

Apparently Italy has a lot of restrictions as to what can be shipped into their country. This thread should help you. It's from October so it's fairly recent.

I've shipped international for 20 years. Italy in the ONLY country in the world where I have lost a package and also a registered letter. And I've shipped to every continent except Antarctica. I tell prospective Italian customers that I will only ship to them by Express Mail and nothing else.

If the order has relatively high value they normally accept. If it's small value maybe I loose the order but at least I don't have the headaches of charge-backs and the torrent of email that a lost order brings.

I've sent a couple of packages to Italy - one got returned to me after three months, and the other one just got lost. So, yeah - I worry about shipping to Italy. And this wasn't even for this shop - this was for my soap shop.

I've shipped to Italy about 10 times and haven't had any problems thus far....knock on wood!

I shipped a pillow cover to Italy during the holidays and it got there in about two weeks or so. Guess I got lucky...

I don't ship to Italy. None of my items are allowed to be shipped there according to this part of the restriction:

"Haberdashery and sewn articles of any kind, including trimmings and lace; handkerchiefs; scarves; shawls, needlework including stockings and gloves; bonnets, caps, and hats of any kind."
